A playful, trend-setting new ‘yakiniku’ barbecue grill brand is launching with the opening of Wagyu Yakiniku Ichiro in Jordan in early April – complete with unique ‘Shinkansen bullet train’ service to table grills.
The sleek minimalistic 7,000 sq. ft. dining destination in the heart of dynamic Jordan Road is the flagship of planned expansion of a Japanese grill brand headlining ‘Wagyu Unlimited’ set menus with unlimited ‘help yourself’ salad, drink and dessert bars.
As well as contact-less table service by a Shinkansen-inspired railway, the hero of the menu is also exclusive to Wagyu Yakiniku Ichiro – prized ‘Odagyu’ A4 Wagyu from famed Oda Chikusan ranch on the remote south-western tip of Japan. Named after cattle farmer Kenichi Oda, who started rearing in 1973, the ranch on the Satsuma Peninsula of Kyushu Island is an acclaimed Wagyu award-winner.
“Odagyu’s unique 12-compound diet and comfortable conditions contribute to the premier Wagyu grading for ‘yakiniku’ grilling, with rich melt-in-your-mouth marbling for legendary umami flavour,” said Mr Masashi Kamatani, Brand Developer of Wagyu Yakiniku Ichiro, who now introduces Odagyu to the Hong Kong market.
Six ‘Wagyu Unlimited’ set menus are priced from HK$298 up to HK$938 for a 120-minutes “premium deluxe Wagyu journey”.
Other than exclusive signature ‘Odagyu’, set menus also include US Wagyu and Australian Wagyu, as well as renowned Kagoshima Black Wagyu. Premium grill selections extend to Shabu-shabu Beef Tongue, Karubi (Rib Finger), Sukiyaki Loin and Japanese Pork Belly, Chicken Thigh and Satsuma Pork Sausage.
Along with jet-fresh seafood such as Shrimps, Scallops, Oysters and Abalones, beef sushi specialties can be luxuriously topped with sea urchin, salmon roe and caviar add-ons, while beef sashimis of premium cuts include signature ‘Ichiro’ carpaccio.
Also included with the sets, diners have unlimited ‘help yourself’ options for up to two hours from an expansive standalone free-flowing bar area for unlimited salad, drink, dessert and ice cream – a novel feature showcasing 5-8 salads daily, over 40 desserts and ice creams, and numerous Japanese ‘bijin’ rice waters and fresh fruit juices.
On an extensive a la carte menu, premium jet-fresh seafood options including King Crab and Japanese Spiny Lobster are available for seafood lovers to indulge in the ‘yakiniku’ experience.
Paying tribute to the Kyushu origins of its signature ‘Odagyu’, Kyushu specialties are also represented by Chicken Nanban, Mentaiko Seafood Pancakes, Fukuoka Mentaiko Sushi, Hakata-style Soup Dumplings, Miyazaki Chicken Nanban Sushi, Oita Chicken Tempura Sushi and more.
Completing the menu are rice, soup and ramen comfort food favourites, from signatures Yakiniku Don, Sukiyaki Don and Hakata Pork Bone Ramen to Spicy Karubi Rice Soup, Cold Noodles, Spicy Karubi Ramen, Vegetable Ramen and Kelp Soup.
Drinks are also curated especially for a festive ‘yakiniku’ experience, headlined by a wide range of hand-picked sakes from prestigious traditional distilleries, Japanese-style cocktails and mocktails, sparkling house prosecco and red and white wines.
Located in the heart of buzzing Jordan, Wagyu Yakiniku Ichiro takes an unconventional design approach compared to typical ‘yakiniku’ dining spots. Set across 7,000 sq. ft., the restaurant features a dramatic show kitchen and dedicated Sake Bar along with the self-service concept, as well as a VIP room offering ultimate privacy.
With seating for 165 diners, Wagyu Yakiniku Ichiro launches in early April at 3/F, Pak Shing Building, 31-37 Jordan Road, Jordan, Kowloon, Hong Kong; opens from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
