Social commitment – The Smiling Gecko project
The Farmhouse is an educational hotel of the social project Smiling Gecko, which is committed to street children and young, poor people in Cambodia. In the long term, the organization’s aim is to build up a community that is economically independent and self-sufficient through the farms and the hotel.
The kitchen of the resort is run by Mariya Un Noun, who received her training through Smiling Gecko. In a refined way, the young chef combines traditional and western dishes to create a unique taste experience. Most of the food comes from the project’s own garden and the Smiling Gecko bakery and butcher’s shop.
Experience Cambodia
Guests, who do not only want to experience the beauty of nature and the privacy of the farmhouse, can experience Cambodia up close with experienced guides. A guided tour of the large Smiling Gecko grounds is included for every guest during their stay. The hotel also offers an excursion to a 500-year-old monastery. The Temple Mount offers a breathtaking view of the beautiful landscape. On another tour, visitors are taken to a textile factory near Phnom Penh. The living and working conditions of the poor population become tangible there.
