Memphis Tourism’s Australian and NZ Director Chris Ingram, of IGG Destination Marketing, has teamed up with Fancy Hank’s to keep the dream (and taste!) of Memphis alive until we can once again travel to the great southern city.
Renowned for what is considered the world’s best barbecue, Memphis is a city of truly great food and it has inspired a legion of fans and Chefs around the globe. Here in Melbourne, the iconic Fancy Hank’s offers an extensive menu of authentic southern style barbecue including pulled pork and Memphis style pork ribs.
Executive Chef and Owner, Mike Patrick, says that Memphis is certainly an inspiration for their style of cooking. “I have travelled through the south of America multiple times in the last 10 years, and I am in love with the flavours, the countryside and the people associated with BBQ. Memphis has a particularly big history of music as well as BBQ and our dry rubbed pork shoulder pays homage to this. We finish with a dry spice rub, after smoking the pork over red gum and charcoal for up to 12 hours.”
Even a pandemic can’t stop food this good, and the restaurant continues to offer delivery and take-away across its entire menu, 7 days per week.
Australia and NZ Director Chris Ingram says that Fancy Hank’s is a venue of choice when eating in Memphis isn’t an option. “As a Memphis devotee, one of my favourite things about the destination is the food – and if I can’t eat there, I eat at Fancy Hank’s.”
