IHG Hotels & Resorts - logoIn a significant move bolstering Bangkok’s reputation as a hub for sustainable development, Hotel Indigo is set to open its doors within The Forestias, a groundbreaking mixed-use development sprawling over 64 hectares on the city’s eastern outskirts. This new venture by IHG Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with the esteemed Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC), aims to redefine urban ecosystem integration by 2026.

The 274-room Hotel Indigo, The Forestias Bangkok, is strategically located just 15 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport and 20 minutes from the city centre, promising exceptional accessibility enhanced by a forthcoming high-speed rail link. Its prime location alongside residential units, office spaces, and a comprehensive suite of retail, dining, and entertainment options underscores its potential as a cornerstone for community and commercial synergy.

Central to the ethos of Hotel Indigo The Forestias is its commitment to environmental stewardship and community connection. Inspired by the lush forestry that encircles the site, the hotel’s design philosophy seamlessly blends with the natural habitat, offering a sanctuary where nature, wildlife, and human habitation harmoniously converge. The site’s layout includes a vast expanse of green spaces and a five-hectare forest park, stressing biodiversity and eco-friendly living standards.

Saowarin Chanprakaisi, Senior Director of Development at IHG for Southeast Asia & Korea, remarked, “Our alliance with MQDC reflects a shared ambition to deliver unparalleled guest experiences while fostering a sustainable relationship with our surroundings. This project will not only elevate community living standards but also set new benchmarks in eco-tourism and hospitality.”

Hotel Indigo’s introduction to The Forestias is part of a broader strategy to expand IHG’s footprint in luxury and lifestyle sectors, enriching its portfolio, including prestigious names like Six Senses, Regent Hotels, and InterContinental. Hotel Indigo is renowned for its unique properties that reflect the culture and spirit of their localities, making it a perfect fit for The Forestias, which emphasizes a deep integration with the local community and environment.

Paisit Kaenchan, Head of Hotel & Hospitality at MQDC, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Hotel Indigo’s philosophy of revitalizing local neighborhoods through thoughtful design and immersive experiences aligns perfectly with the vision for The Forestias. Guests will not only enjoy top-tier amenities but also engage with the community through eco-educational activities and experiences that highlight our commitment to sustainability.”

In addition to offering luxurious accommodations and amenities like a state-of-the-art gym, swimming pool, and extensive meeting facilities, the hotel is committed to using locally sourced ingredients in its dining establishments, which include a café, lounge, and pool bar. This initiative supports local farmers and reduces the hotel’s carbon footprint, further cementing its role as a leader in sustainable hospitality.

The expansion of Hotel Indigo in Thailand, including upcoming properties in Bangkok and Koh Samui, reflects IHG’s commitment to growth in Asia’s hospitality sector. With 39 hotels already operational across the country and more in the pipeline, IHG continues to cater to the evolving demands of modern travellers seeking authenticity, luxury, and sustainability.

This strategic development promises to enhance Bangkok’s appeal as a top travel destination and set a new standard for responsible and sustainable urban planning in Southeast Asia.
