In light of current events across the USA, Memphis Tourism has announced the postponement of its recovery training webinar, originally planned to take place this Thursday, 4th June.

“A city with civil rights at its core, and the home of the National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis has been rocked by the recent tragedy of George Floyd’s death. Proceeding with the training would not be appropriate at this time,” said Australian and NZ Director Chris Ingram.

The significance of current anti-racism riots is particularly poignant for Memphis, a city that has played an integral role in the US Civil Rights Movement. Through its ongoing recognition and commemoration of the Movement’s hardships, struggles, and triumphs via historical landmarks around the city and through the National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis has continually worked to provide reflective exhibitions, events, and memorials.

A new date for the training is yet to be announced.

Once rescheduled, Mr Ingram and Memphis based International Sales Manager, Lisa Catron, will host the training webinar to cover key facts as well as lesser known aspects of the great city of Memphis. Designed to assist agents who will be getting ready to sell international travel as soon as possible, the training webinar will allow up to 300 attendees to ask questions, seek details on specific attractions in Memphis, and gain a better understanding of what is already possible in the city.
