According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Webjet appears to be no closer to solving its financial woes after sounding out major investors.  The travel services group went into a trading halt on Thursday flagging plans to raise cash from the market.

Flight Centre could also be forced to raise capital, according to analysts. In an email message to ticket holders today, CEO David Galt said the specifics of cancelled services are yet to be shared by airlines including Qantas, Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia.

“As soon as we know what bookings are impacted we will be in touch again on what this means for you. If you are impacted by these changes, rest assured customers who have booked with Webjet will be eligible for a flight credit as per the airline conditions. “What do you do from here? We ask that you hold off on contacting us until you hear from us next week. If you’ve already submitted a cancellation request and you are eligible for a credit, the credit will still apply.

“We share your frustration during this time when there are already so many travel restrictions enforced by governments globally. We sincerely appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding during a particularly challenging time for all,” he added.
