Melco Resorts & Entertainment announces Macau’s first and only in-house nursery. Subject to relevant licenses being obtained, the nursery will be located at one of Melco’s properties to support the Company’s working parent employees, and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Macau (The Macau Holy House of Mercy) will be the nursery’s management operator.

Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, said, “A most important pillar for our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is women and families.  We have been at the forefront from 2007 when we set up free cancer screening for women in Macau.  Melco was the first integrated resort operator to set up lactation rooms across all its properties. Encouraging taking care of the primary priority of children while working, the Melco in-house nursery will facilitate the wellbeing of families.”

Mr. António José de Freitas, President of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Macau (The Macau Holy House of Mercy), said, “The Creche of this Santa Casa was established in March 2002, where high-quality, pre-school education is provided in both Chinese and Portuguese language. The creation of the Creche can be understood as a tribute to one of the early initiatives of this multi-secular institution, in the field of aiding the younger beings, more specifically, with the opening in 1637, of a girls’ orphanage, the first in Macau. We are enthusiastic about operating the first in-house nursery in Macau as part of our aim to provide a range of regular social service facilities to the community of Macau.”

In addition to being the first integrated resort operator to establish lactation room facilities across all its major properties in Macau, Melco implements a series of family-friendly and women’s initiatives for colleagues, including the Strawberry Life scheme which enables employees to work part time while remaining dedicated to their family commitments, but who are eligible for full-time benefits on a prorated basis.

Earlier this year, the company also hosted the Melco Women’s Forum, inviting a panel of inspirational and influential female guests from around the world to speak in Macau, including Ms. Ann Osman, Malaysia’s first female professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter who was voted one of TIME Magazine’s Next Generation Leaders; Ms. Julia Morley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Miss World Organization; and Ms. Kanako Date, Miss World Japan 2018.

Furthermore, the company recently co-hosted the Best Mom Award together with Women’s General Association of Macau to celebrate women’s contributions. The award also celebrated the virtues of women, paying tribute to maternal love, promoting positive family values and providing the local Macau community with a platform to show their gratitude and appreciation for the important women in their lives.
