The Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) has today announced that it will be holding national travel agent events in Sydney and Melbourne in October 2019, inviting all travel agents to become a Philippines ‘Fun Travel Expert’. Hosted by television personality and entertainment reporter, James Tobin, and with the tagline, be the next #PHfuntravelexpert, the events will primarily focus on making it easier for agents to sell the Philippines, using fun to entice even more travellers to this stunning destination. In addition, those choosing to attend will become certified Philippines Fun Travel Experts.
First-hand information on the best islands such as Boracay, Cebu, Palawan and Siargao will be showcased during the event, whilst an insightful Business to Business session will allow agents to meet a number of private sector participants, including reputable hotels, resorts and airlines, plus the opportunity to network with other agents. This will be followed by a cocktail and dinner reception which includes an exciting Philippines trivia challenge, giving the travel agents the chance to win free trips to the best islands in the world.
Norjamin Delos Reyes, Tourism Attaché at Philippine Department of Tourism Australia and New Zealand, said,
“With over 7,000 stunning islands, many World Heritage listed sites, and the friendliest people in Asia, the popularity of travel to the Philippines has seen unprecedented growth in recent years, especially amongst travellers looking for new destinations and unique travel experiences. Agents are essential to the continued growth in travel to the region and these events are the next step in our evolving strategy to help agents confidently sell the Philippines to their customers.”
The events will take place as follows:
· Melbourne – 2 October 2019 – Crown Towers, Crown Melbourne
· Sydney – 3 October 2019 – Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park
“These trade events will offer a unique perspective on this diverse destination, giving agents the opportunity to learn more about the abundance of activities on offer in the Philippines, from trekking, whale watching or WWII wreck diving, surfing, kayaking the world’s longest underground river, voluntourism, pampering in our many spa resorts, or simply enjoying and relaxing on our stunning beaches.
“We believe that investing in agents by offering insightful and educational events such as these, is key to remaining ahead as industry innovators. These events will give the agents the tools to better promote the Philippines and let Australians know why It’s More Fun in the Philippines. What’s more, each agent choosing to attend will leave as a certified Philippines Fun Travel Agent,” said Ms Delos Reyes.
