    ‘The Cultural Leadership course digs deep into the powerful, transformative role that the arts and culture can have in creating a more inclusive, empathetic and engaging community and society. These students will be the voice for their organisation or practice, and the voice for the sector more broadly, advocating for the place of the arts in society,’ says Ms Brown.

    The NIDA Master of Fine Arts (Cultural Leadership):

  • provides opportunities for cross-disciplinary sharing of practices and ideas, designed to stimulate the future of the arts in Australia. It values informed, courageous and resilient leaders who embody empathy and a collaborative approach. This future-focused program is about cultivating the next generation of leaders in arts and culture.
  • is designed for mid-career producers, directors and managers working in the cultural sector who are passionate, ambitious, and have a motivation to drive change
  • is taught by senior cultural leaders working at senior levels in the arts industry
  • operates part-time over two and a half years to allow students to study while continuing their work, wherever their location in Australia

  • is delivered online and through four five-day intensives each year on site at NIDA’s Sydney campus
  • culminates in a one-month international placement, providing a leadership experience within the student’s unique context.
  • The course acts as a career accelerator, empowering students with the insights, knowledge and networks that might otherwise take decades to acquire.
  • Interviews available with current students and NIDA Course Leader, Cultural Leadership Karilyn Brown, a recognised arts leader and former CEO of Performing Lines, Executive Director of Arts Development at the Australia Council for the Arts, and General Manager of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies.
