Spread the love

Coinciding with the arrival of the cherry blossom season, New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Sagano, has lined up a first-ever joint collaboration with K11 Beauty to present a sakura-themed dining and beauty experience this March and April. Guests will not only enjoy the Sakura Set Lunch and Sakura Kaiseki menu created by Kyoto-born Japanese Chef Masahiko Noka but also receive a complimentary beauty trial set and discounted art nail service by K11 Beauty.

Paying homage to this season’s flower, Chef Noka incorporates sakura infusions and the edible flower into selected dishes.

The highlight of the exquisite Sakura Set Lunch is the assorted seasonal appetisers, offering diners 10 kinds of petite Japanese treats including poached vegetables, grilled silver cod with miso paste, grilled egg rolls, chicken and jellyfish, mini glutinous rice dumplings, grilled beef, Zuwai crabmeat with crab miso paste, marinated surf clam and seaweed, marinated squid with soya sauce, and stewed sweet potatoes in lemon sauce. The set lunch also comes with assorted sashimi including tuna, yellowtail and sweet shrimp, as well as assorted tempura, salmon and salmon roe on rice served with miso soup. Desserts are homemade sakura pudding and sakura ice cream using real sakura leaves from Japan with their unique aroma.

Appreciating sakura is not only a daytime activity in Japan; at night the blossoms are illuminated for strollers to admire the display. Inspired by this tradition, Chef Noka has tailor-made a sakura-themed kaiseki menu for local diners to celebrate the season during the dinner period.

The festive kaiseki starts with refreshing appetisers and assorted sashimi, including Toyama squid with sour miso paste and poached vegetables, white shrimp mixed with sea urchin, and sea bream sushi with broad beans and stewed sweet potatoes in lemon sauce. This is followed by stewed tilefish with sake, grilled Spanish mackerel with sesame sauce, prawn and spring vegetable tempura, slightly-grilled scallop and cockle in vinegar sauce, and Chirashi sushi served with red miso soup. The homemade sakura pudding with seasonal fruit will give diners a perfect ending to the sakura feast.

Complementing the dining experience is a certificate for a pampering session at K11 Beauty. Diners ordering a sakura lunch set or kaiseki will each receive a voucher. Upon presentation of this voucher at K11 Beauty, guests will receive:
