Spread the love

With more than 720 properties and over 39,000 beds available in the Maldives, travellers are spoiled for choice when it comes to deciding where to stay, which often makes planning a trip to the tropical nation overwhelming.

Fortunately, Coco Collection – with its three unique, award-winning boutique resorts – takes the stress and confusion out of the equation by offering a one-stop shop of premium accommodation options.

Coco Privé Private Island, Coco Bodu Hithi and Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu are united by their affinity for preserving the beautiful Maldivian environment that serves as their mutual muse. Aside from that commonality, they are entirely different and span price ranges, atolls and experiential offerings; boasting an option for every type of traveller.

The below features not only differentiate the group from competitors, but also perfectly encapsulate why Coco Collection should be the go-to for both guests and travel agents when booking a Maldivian holiday.

1. They’re sustainability leaders Coco Collection’s sustainability program, ‘Coco Dreams Green’ is dedicated to reducing the consumption of single-use plastic – with an end goal of zero – at all Coco Collection properties, including their corporate office.

The resorts maintain stringent policies regarding guest services; facilities; amenities; services, including those offered to their associates; and their education and outreach programs. Some of these policies include introducing paper straws in all outlets instead of biodegradable plastic, as this plastic breaks down into microplastics, which is deadly to marine life and detrimental to our own health; banning plastic bags on all islands; and replacing in-villa amenities with those made from natural materials, such as wooden toothbrushes and cotton buds made without plastic.

The program also includes a monthly island clean-up program to clean the beaches, reefs, and lagoons of non-biodegradable debris; and marine conservation awareness and outreach programs for guests and staff.

2. They treasure turtles In 2015, Coco Collection announced an official partnership with the Olive Ridley Project, a UK charity whose mission is to remove discarded fishing nets (also known as ghost nets) from the ocean, and to rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles injured by these nets.

As part of this partnership, they opened a Marine Turtle Rescue Centre at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, where 23 turtles were treated within the first six months of its opening. The resort’s resident Marine Biologist also works closely with the Olive Ridley Project to remove ghost nets from surrounding seas, and to conduct an awareness and education program for guests, staff and local schoolchildren to teach the dangers of plastic pollution and the importance of protecting marine life.

3. They created the world’s first pool floats menu Coco Bodu Hithi recently partnered with leading Australian summer lifestyle brand, Sunnylife, to create the world’s first pool floats menu. Resort guests now have a selection of colourful, whimsical, stylish pool floats available from the exclusive menu in their rooms. The perfect accessory for that summer insta photo!

4. They offer a once-in-a-lifetime opulent soirée Coco Privé Private Island offers an extravagant three-day soirée that sets a new benchmark in luxury. Lavish even according to Maldivian standards, the unforgettable experience features endless cocktails, music and bespoke culinary experiences, as well as champagne towers and fireworks upon a private yacht.

5. They’re a foodie’s paradise and home to some of the world’s best chefs Across the three Coco Collection properties, there’s more than 10 world-class restaurants and bars (not including the private chefs and bespoke dining experiences at Coco Privé Private Island) that boast some of the best food and drinks in the Maldives. As a testament to this reputation, Michelin-starred chefs visit the resorts every year to create one-off culinary experiences for guests.
