CHIMU Adventures has released its first-ever documentary, Calm to Chaos, which tells the story of how the cruise line and the travel industry dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 40-minute film takes viewers behind the scenes of the pandemic as it unfolded from the point of view of the travel industry, as Chimu set about organising the repatriation of hundreds of stranded travellers from South America, and battered down red tape both in Australia and overseas to make it happen.

The feature documentary “Calm to Chaos”, is a must watch for anyone in travel, with the documentary a dramatic tale about travel and COVID-19.

At the beginning of 2020, when international borders were suddenly closed, travellers all over the world were stranded, with Chimu travellers no exception.

To deal with this extreme situation, the leaders at Chimu jumped into action and, with the backing of their team, ground operations and government officials, alongside the dedicated efforts of Chimu travellers, repatriated hundreds of travellers within weeks, in the most trying of circumstances.

Chimu say that they were not alone in such ventures and through this documentary, they have set out to reflect the challenges, frustrations and triumphs that travellers and operators right across the globe experienced, with “Calm to Chaos” a 40-minute documentary that takes you behind the scenes of one of the extraordinary travel events of our lifetimes.

What Chimu have done, is re-written the rule book and provided a template on how government and industry work together, to bring Australians home in a time of crisis”

“We’ve just watched & I have to say it made us both a little emotional.  Your team have absolutely reflected the turmoil, uncertainty, fear & ultimately; the pure relief of being able to finally get home.  We ended up spending a total of 34 days in lockdown/quarantine in both Peru & Sydney.  On reflection, we terrify ourselves thinking of what our fate may have been if your flight didn’t get off the ground. Our entire family is eternally grateful to you & your team for doing something so utterly altruistic. We sincerely hope all at Chimu survive the current challenges & ultimately thrive again. There are not enough ways to say thank you.”

WOW…  Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou. Such an emotional, and raw video to watch and to learn of the immense challenges you had along the way… The Public has no Idea, what goes on behind the scenes. Thank you for producing this, and for being our Voice…. Show the world…. The more the merrier…. The travel industry, that has been my whole career for 25yrs, has been forgotten by many, without anyone really giving a damn, and feeling left out in the cold.  You are all absolute Legends, and should feel a great deal of pride for the all the efforts each and every one of the fabulous, Chimu Team, sacrificed, personally and professionally, to get the job done… and bring people home… Hang in there everyone, brighter days will come, and the tide will turn, eventually….”

Kristie Martin, Travel Partners

Absolutely brilliant so sad at the end though – I’m in tears! First time I’ve cried about our industry, you know you just keep on keeping on. You guys did so well and along with me and our passengers. forever grateful to Chimu.”
