Take Mum on an epicurean adventure she will never forget—all in the comfort of your home—with Mandarin Orchard Singapore’s specially curated Mother’s Day set menu, available from 8 to 10 May.

In this exclusive Mother’s Day collaboration, the set menu features three dishes that are inspired by none other than the Mums of Shisen Hanten Executive Chef Kentaro and Chatterbox Master Chef Liew Tien Heong.

The Stewed Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce is definitely Chef Kentaro’s favourite of all his mother’s home-cooked dishes. A Tokyo native, Chef Kentaro’s mother only learned how to cook Chinese food from her husband, Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi, and her father-in-law, Chef Kenmin, while helping them out in the kitchen.

As a kid growing up, Chef Kentaro would often eat his fill of this dish with bowls of fluffy white rice. The medley of flavours from the garlic, ginger, and pickled chilli mixed in with the tender eggplant and minced pork made it a dish Chef Kentaro could never resist, and only in the way his mother prepares it.

The Signature Pork Dumplings by Chef Liew’s mum are a mainstay for any family gatherings he had growing up. Coming from an extended household, Chef Liew looked forward to such occasions as they were the only time his mother would prepare the dish. Hailing from Shandong where flour is a staple in the local cuisine, Chef Liew’s mum made the skin and filling of her signature dumplings from scratch.

The same filling is also used to create another one of his mum’s specialities—Deep-fried Lotus Root stuffed with Pork. Chef Liew has recreated these dishes using his mother’s original recipes to include in the special collaboration set.

The family-style set menu will feature the above dishes, alongside Chatterbox’s signature Mandarin Chicken Rice, and Shisen Hanten’s Sautéed King Prawn in Teriyaki Sauce as well as Homestyle Barley Beancurd Skin with Bird’s Nest.

Available at $260+ for four persons, the set menu also comes with complimentary Crab Meat and Shiitake Mushroom Chawanmushi for four, a portion of Rojak, and four cans of soft drinks or beer.
