The Australian Cruise Association (ACA) has announced that due to ongoing border closures within Australia, it has cancelled its 2021 Annual Conference, but it aims to hold a series of cruise-ready workshops early in 2022.
Prior to this cancellation, due to the outbreak of the Delta variant, last August  the ACA had already moved its 2021 conference to November.
ACA CEO Jill Abel said, “We were hopeful that the border openings would be further advanced to allow us to meet the November dates, but we are not confident that will now be the case,” adding, “In the interim, we are looking at holding a series of cruise-ready workshops in the early part of next year”, and, “We are increasingly confident that domestic cruising will start to build by that time and it will give us the opportunity to reconnect with our members.”
ACA has also announced that the conference has been rescheduled and will take place from 7 to 9 September 2022 and that it will still be held at The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville and that it will confirm the speaker line-up soon.
ACA says that networking activities and pre-and post- touring options will give attendees the opportunity to get to know one of Queensland’s popular cruise destinations.
In addition, ACA has advised that delegates already registered for the conference and who have booked accommodation are being automatically moved to the new dates with ACA honouring the existing pricing.
In the meantime, registration remains open for new bookings by contacting ACA
