PONANT, recognised as a world leader in luxury expeditions, says it is about to commence its 2021 season of small ship cruising in the Mediterranean and the French coastline, along with exciting expeditions exploring the island of Vikings, Iceland.

Sarina Bratton, PONANT Chairman Asia Pacific said, “While in Australia and New Zealand our ongoing discussions continue with governments, hopeful of border openings for small ships to provide much needed – and wanted – domestic cruising, Europe is well underway with their restart for the summer period”.

She added, “Taking advantage of our tested and proven health protocols, and the compact size of
PONANT’s fleet of ships, Europeans are now able to explore the rugged coast and islands of Brittany, wild Corsica, historic Croatian ports, alluring Greek islands, coastal Spain and the glaciers and fjords of Iceland.”

PONANT’s says that its luxurious  eco-sensitive small ships, the youngest such fleet in the world, are perfect for exploration as they can get into smaller bays and ports, taking guests where most others cannot venture – and always in comfort and style.

Sarina also said that PONANT is poised for a restart in Australia and New Zealand, PONANT, with two ships located in the region, Le Soléal and Le Lapérouse, both are ready to recommence operation with a range of itineraries during 2021 and 2022, adding “Both are all well booked, and providing a way forward for the beleaguered travel industry”, and “This is also a positive way to assist regional and remote communities, tour operators, food and beverage suppliers, once borders are re-opened to allow our small ships in for domestic cruising”.

For 2021 and 2022 PONANT has a range of local Australian and New Zealand itineraries that include the Kimberley , South Western Australia, Australia’s West Coast and South Coast, circumnavigations of Tasmania, and New Zealand’s Fiordland and Subantarctic Islands.
