Carnival Cruise Line has announced the addition of a new specialty restaurant, Il Viaggio, aboard the recently enhanced Carnival Venezia. The restaurant will offer a culinary journey across Italy, showcasing the country’s diverse and rich cuisine. The menu is designed to represent distinct culinary regions of Italy, featuring regional specialties from “antipasti” to “dolce” desserts.
Il Viaggio will also feature signature dishes, such as the Pollo Parmigiana Pizza and Lombata Milanese, inspired by the regions of Sicily and Lombardy, respectively. Guests can also choose from various Italian wines and cocktails, each representing different regions of Italy.
The restaurant will be led full-time by an Italian executive chef, and the staff will embody the warm hospitality and passion that characterizes Italian culture. The restaurant’s ambience will transport guests through Italy, with artwork and architectural touches highlighting different regions featured on the menu. Guests will also have the option to dine al fresco on the restaurant’s lanai.
Reservations for Il Viaggio are now open for guests booked on upcoming Carnival Venezia sailings. The restaurant carries a reservations fee in line with Carnival’s other full-service specialty restaurants.
Carnival Venezia is undergoing an enhancement project in Spain before embarking on a 15-day Carnival Journeys transatlantic sailing from Barcelona on May 29, 2023. The ship accommodates more than 5,000 guests and will offer ten different cruise durations and 22 unique itineraries featuring visits to 25 ports across 14 countries.
Carnival’s chief culinary officer, Emeril Lagasse, said, “Highlighting the various Italian regions renowned for certain specialties will invite our guests to enjoy an immersive exploration of flavors – a meal that’s truly unique, delicious and offers an enriching experience as well.”
