Spread the love

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has launched a #MOCares campaign as part of its corporate social responsibility where hotel colleagues participate in a variety of volunteer programmes, supporting local charities and those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hotel colleagues have contributed workforce hours to several charities who help the city’s vulnerable and less fortunate, including:

  • Packing anti-epidemic supplies for underprivileged families and street cleaners with Oxfam Hong Kong;
  • Partnering with Soap Cycling by donating soap and bottled amenities to be recycled then distributed to disadvantaged communities around the world;
  • Refurbishing donated computers with Crossroads Foundation for students in poverty;
  • Donating food to feed the homeless with ImpactHK;
  • Joining Green Hour Hong Kong for an Earth Day Clean-up Hike to pick up litter along trekking trails;
  • Participating in online storytelling sessions for underprivileged children with Bring Me a Book;
  • Collecting donations of pre-loved toys and books from hotel colleagues for The Hub Children & Youth Centre;
  • Collaborating with Food for Good to cook and distribute food prepared by the hotel’s chefs to the elderly

In addition, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong shows its hospitality to hospitals by delivering homemade brownies to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and Ruttonjee Hospital. “During these challenging times there’s not much we can do, but we can offer this small gesture to show our appreciation to the medical heroes who keep us safe and well,” says Pierre Barthes, General Manager and Area Vice President of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. “And in honour of International Nurse’s Day on 12 May 2020, we will be donating more sweet treats to healthcare workers at Cheshire Home, Chung Hom Kok, Tung Wah East Hospital and Wong Chuk Hang Hospital.” The hotel will also light up its guest rooms to form a heart on 12 May 2020 from 8:00 until 8:30 p.m., spreading love to the community.
