If there is ever something big going on in the community you can bet Austalia’s homegrown cruise line, P&O Cruises Australia, will be at the centre of it.
It has ever been thus and these photos are here to prove it. Back in the 1990s P&O people supported by the organisation were out in force fundraising enthusiastically.
There was an Australian Olympic team to support for the upcoming 1996 Atlanta Olympics along with all the excitement of the Sydney Olympics to follow in 2000.
The P&O team lined up for a 24-hour endurance race kitted out in the guise of P&O’s beautiful cruise ship Oriana – including three ‘funnels’ for good measure.
Teams of 20 each took part in the event and when the fundraising total from the team and P&O Holidays were tallied it came to more than $11,000 – big money back in 1996 and just what our Atlanta Olympic team of Australian athletes needed.
