Elevated cabin and lounge experiences
The awards reflect Korean Air’s ongoing investments in the passenger journey. The airline secured Gold Awards for ‘International Carrier’ and ‘Service’ for the second consecutive year. Its recently renewed First Class product and in-flight dining program also earned Gold for the second year in a row, while its Business Class cabin was highly evaluated by the judging panel.
Korean Air’s newly redesigned airport lounges at Incheon International Airport were recognized for transforming conventional lounge spaces into premium travel spaces featuring Korean aesthetics. The First Class lounge focuses on exclusive, private services, while the Prestige Lounge introduces amenities including a live chef station, a cooking studio, and a ramyun library. The airline also rolled out a lounge pre-reservation system to streamline the passenger experience.
Digital transition and technological solutions
The airline was further recognized for its technological innovations as it transitions into a digital-first carrier. Korean Air has implemented advanced technologies across its operations, including fuel management systems, predictive maintenance, global logistics, an AI-powered Intelligent Contact Center (AICC), and an AI chatbot.
Commitment to sustainable aviation
In the sustainability category, the airline was commended for integrating eco-friendly practices into its flight operations and in-flight services. Last year, Korean Air reduced carbon emissions from its flight operations and related activities by approximately 485,000 tons year-over-year through carbon reduction policies, including expanding its fleet of highly efficient aircraft and optimizing cruising speeds. The carrier is also phasing in plant-based in-flight meal containers, investing in upcycling waste materials, and continuing corporate social responsibility initiatives such as the “Korean Air Forest” tree-planting project in Mongolia.
Organized by US-based travel publication Travel Weekly, the Magellan Awards recognize achievements in branding, service, marketing, and design across the global travel industry. This year’s winners were selected by a panel of 17 travel industry experts based on initiatives carried out in 2025.
As Korean Air continues to enhance its global network, it remains focused on driving technological innovation and refining its premium services. These ongoing investments ensure the carrier will consistently deliver a seamless, world-class travel experience.
