Expedia Group B2B has made a fresh move in Australia. It has teamed with National Australia Bank to power the new NAB Travel booking experience.

The deal is Expedia Group B2B’s first of its kind with an Australian bank. It also gives Expedia a new route to travellers through a service many customers already use each day.

For NAB customers, the pitch is simple. NAB Travel brings Expedia Group B2B’s travel tools, inventory and customer support into one booking experience.

Customers can search, book and manage travel through the bank’s digital platform. NAB, in turn, adds travel to a much wider customer relationship.

The timing makes sense.

Australians still want to travel, but value matters. Expedia Group’s 2025 Traveller Value Index found 63 per cent of Australians planned to travel overseas in the next 12 months.

The research also points to a wider shift in loyalty. Some 72 per cent of Australians said they would book travel through a non-travel loyalty program if they could earn points.

That is a strong signal for banks, retailers and other big consumer brands.

The bank app, it seems, is starting to look a little like a travel shop. The passport may still be in the drawer, but the holiday plan can now begin beside the balance screen.

Carolina Cabero, SVP Sales, Expedia Group B2B, said: “We’re proud to welcome NAB as Expedia Group B2B’s first Australian banking partner and support the launch of NAB Travel.”

NAB Executive Personal Everyday Banking Sweta Mehra said: “NAB Travel gives customers a new way to search, book and manage travel all in the one place through their banking app.”

Why this matters to travel sellers

The launch is about more than one bank and one booking tool.

Travel is now sold in far more places than before. Airlines, hotels, travel agents and online travel agencies remain central. But banks, retailers and loyalty programs are moving closer to the point of sale.

For customers, that can mean more choice and easier access. For traditional travel sellers, it raises the need to show why their service matters.

Travel advisers still hold an important advantage. They offer advice, handle complex trips, and step in when plans go wrong. Those skills are hard to pack into an app.

Yet NAB Travel shows how fast travel distribution is changing. Expedia Group B2B has spent years putting its technology behind other brands. In 2026, it said its B2B platform served 75,000 partners and 200,000 travel advisers worldwide.

NAB now joins that wider push.

For the bank, the new service gives customers another reason to stay in its digital world. For Expedia Group B2B, it opens a new Australian sales channel.

And for the travel trade, it is another reminder that the shopfront is no longer always a shopfront. Sometimes, it is sitting inside a banking app.

Anne Keam - Bio PicAnne Keam’s story begins in Queensland, on a grain farm in the state’s wide western reaches, where the days were long and the lessons simple: work hard, look after your own, and don’t make a fuss. Those early years left their mark.
She later studied Arts at the University of Queensland, before doing what felt natural at the time, heading back home to the family property. But the world was calling. Anne packed a backpack and went looking, spending years on the road and finding herself most alive in South America. She wrote everything down along the way. Those notebooks, full of dust, colour, and curiosity, eventually became her blog, a quiet, personal record of seeing the world and learning from it.
