A small country town in the heart of the North Burnett is giving visitors a berry good reason to hit the road this September, with the Mundubbera Blueberry Festival returning from 25–27 September 2026 for three days of food, music, markets, country hospitality and classic festival fun.
Held in the heart of Queensland’s premier blueberry growing region, the annual festival celebrates the people, produce, and community spirit that make Mundubbera such a unique destination, while offering the perfect excuse for a spring road trip through the North Burnett.
Located just over two hours from Bundaberg and around four hours from Brisbane, Mundubbera is known for its rich agricultural heritage, welcoming locals, and picturesque rural landscapes. During festival weekend, the town comes alive with a packed program designed to showcase the very best of the region.
Festival Coordinator, Lisa Wain, said the event was about more than just blueberries, providing visitors with an authentic taste of country Queensland and a chance to discover everything the North Burnett has to offer.

Festival goers can kick off the weekend on Friday 25 September, with the event’s newest addition, Marquee Muster. Visitors can enjoy a delicious street-style feast showcasing the region’s fresh ingredients, prepared by renowned local chef Kelly Voss, as international artist Gwyn Ashton provides the live soundtrack to the first night of the festival.
Saturday brings the festival’s biggest day of celebrations and is all about getting amongst the action, with Bicentennial Park hosting free-entry to the Berry Big Day Out. More than 80 market stalls, local food vendors, live entertainment and family-friendly activities will fill the riverbank precinct.
From free rides and face painting to street performers, circus acts, sack races and the festival’s famous blueberry competitions, there’s something for every age. Visitors can
also take to the skies on scenic helicopter flights, offering a unique perspective of Mundubbera and the North Burnett’s picturesque rural landscapes.
As the sun sets, festivities move to the Mundubbera Showgrounds for the Blueberry Jam Sesh, where acclaimed Australian artists Tex Perkins and Matt Walker will headline a night of live music under the stars in a world class production. With camping available onsite for ticket holders, visitors can settle in and soak up the festival atmosphere long after the final encore.
Sunday offers the perfect opportunity to continue exploring and visitors to the region should expect to be surprised by the North Burnett’s culture, characters and natural wonders. Pedal a section of the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail, take a guided Berry Bonza Bus Tour through the region’s agricultural heartland or simply enjoy a slower pace before heading home.
The festival also provides an ideal base from which to explore the wider North Burnett region, with country pubs, charming heritage towns, art galleries, National Parks and sections of the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail all within reach.
