Pullman & Mercure Brisbane King George Square, one of the city’s most iconic hotels, is excited to welcome a new American-style sports bar, KG Sports Bar, to its hotel precinct from the 17th of July.

Built to redefine the game-day experience, KG Sports Bar brings together sport, design, hospitality, and community in a single purpose-built venue. It is set to become Brisbane’s ultimate destination to watch sport, enjoy great food and drinks, and experience the atmosphere of the game, no matter what’s playing.

Beyond the traditional game-day crowd, KG Sports Bar will tap into the growing demand for international sporting events by screening major global games throughout the day. Positioned in the heart of the CBD, KG Sports Bar will become the go-to place for workers in the CBD, visitors and sports fans looking to catch the action at any time of the day.

More than just screens and seating, KG Sports Bar captures the energy and culture of sport through a design that celebrates the games Australians know and love. From backdrop walls with sporting elements of American football, basketball, baseball, and ice hockey, etc., to a stadium-style passageway that builds anticipation from the moment guests walk in, every detail has been designed around competition, connection and the shared excitement of game day.

At the heart of KG Sports Bar is a commitment to the local sporting community, with the venue set to champion local teams and create a dedicated home for fans to gather, celebrate victories and share the highs and lows that make sport such a powerful part of Australian culture.

“We wanted to create an elevated sports bar experience, a place where passionate fans, casual visitors and hotel guests can all enjoy great food, drinks and atmosphere, whether they’re watching a major sporting moment or simply enjoying time with friends,” said Dominic O’Donnell, General Manager of Pullman & Mercure Brisbane King George Square, who himself has helped build the bar alongside the construction team.

The food and beverage menu draws inspiration from classic American sports dining, where guests can expect crowd-pleasing favourites and game-day staples, such as chicken wings with a wide range of sauces, American-style burgers, and jalapeño poppers, to name a few. A standout menu item will be the venue’s Hot Wings MVP Challenge, featuring some of the hottest chillis available in Australia and KG Sports Bar is currently the only restaurant in QLD to serve this spicy condiment. Accompanied by a disclaimer and available only to those over 18, the Paralyser chilli extract is not for the faint of heart and offers heat seekers a challenge while visiting the bar.

Alongside the hotel’s ground-level restaurant Goldfinch, known for its Mediterranean menu and high tea offering, and the rooftop bar Sixteen Antlers with its city skyviews, the new bar will create a space in the CBD for the sporting community with an impressive menu line-up. With a focus on elevated hospitality, immersive design, memorable food and a genuine connection to the local sporting scene, KG Sports Bar is set to become the new meeting place for Brisbane sport lovers and social groups alike.

KG Sports Bar will open its doors to the public on the 17th of July 2026.

It will be located on the ground floor of Pullman and Mercure Brisbane King George Square, adjacent to Goldfinch Restaurant, with direct access from Ann Street.
