Spread the love

SWISS and the Swiss Football Association have been teamed up for ten years now. Both partners bring people together all over the world, and both are a byword for team spirit and unforgettable emotion. The Switzerland men’s soccer team will be aiming to create precisely such moments in North America this summer. And their adventure begins today – Tuesday 2 June – when they depart from Zurich for Los Angeles on SWISS flight LX 40.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has been supporting the Swiss Football Association (SFA) as its official airline and as a reliable travel provider for the Switzerland national soccer teams since 1 July 2016. The partners will be celebrating their ten-year collaboration in appropriate style in the next few weeks: the Switzerland men’s soccer squad departs for Los Angeles on SWISS flight LX 40 today for its 2026 North American adventure. SWISS will be accompanying the players, staff and fans on their exciting journey. And SWISS wishes everyone involved a successful tournament and many truly unforgettable moments.

A close partnership of shared and common values

Prior to the squad’s departure, SWISS Chief Customer Officer Heike Birlenbach and Head of Marketing Stefan Vasic presented SFA Secretary General Robert Breiter and Director of Marketing Peter Gelton with an engraved aircraft cabin window to mark the anniversary. In return, SWISS received a football signed by the national team players from the SFV. Two powerful symbols that represent ten years of shared journey, trust and partnership.

The collaboration between SWISS and the SFA thrives on the partners’ shared emotions and their enthusiasm for soccer in Switzerland. SWISS actively promotes various targeted joint activities to create special experiences for fans and further travel guests alike, and pursues its Swiss soccer involvement far beyond the field.

Aboard today’s flight LX 40, too, the partners’ collaboration and anticipation of the tournament ahead will be tangible to all. SWISS is presenting every traveler on the flight with a Swiss soccer team jersey which they’ll find on their seat, to underline its support for the team and its ambitions and to create above the clouds a first emotional moment in their North American adventure.

“Partnerships always show their worth at moments that move us,” says SWISS CCO Heike Birlenbach. “We’ve been supporting Swiss soccer for ten years now. And we’re delighted to be flying the national men’s team today to another major international event. SWISS and the Swiss Football Association have long been united by our shared values such as teamwork, reliability and the ambition to deliver the very best performance. And in the same spirit, we look forward to continuing to support our long-standing partner, and we wish the Switzerland team the very best of luck in the tournament ahead.”

“Our partnership with SWISS has been rooted in our reciprocal confidence and trust, our shared reliability and our genuine passion for soccer in Switzerland for many years now,” adds SFA Secretary General Robert Breiter. “On our travels to our international competitions more than ever, it’s vitally important and we are truly grateful to have a strong partner on our side. And being able to take off with SWISS to the adventure in North America makes our collaboration’s ten-year anniversary all the more special.”

A commitment to sports on multiple fronts

SWISS has long been involved in supporting and promoting sports on various fronts. At the Swiss national level in particular, the airline is an established partner of Switzerland’s main sports associations. In addition to its collaboration with the Swiss Football Association, SWISS is the official airline of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation and Swiss Athletics and the partner of Swiss Olympic, Swiss Paralympic and Swiss Ski.

SWISS further supports various major international sports events that are held in Switzerland. These include the annual Lauberhorn International Ski Races in Wengen and the annual Weltklasse Zürich world-class track and field event.
