Two free nights’ accommodation and free wine – book by June 7, 2026
A new six-night, fully hosted safari tour of outback NSW, featuring the ancient wonders of the Mungo, Mutawintji and Menindee wilderness areas and stays at outback stations and lodges, has been released by Tri State Tours by Overland Adventures, which operates guided adventure trips from Broken Hill.
The immersive, small-group journey, led by expert, local guides, blends ancient culture, dramatic landscapes, comfort, and authentic outback hospitality across some of Australia’s most iconic and remote destinations.
Designed for travellers seeking connection with people and place, new horizons to explore beyond the tourist trail, and unforgettable stories, the in-depth, six-night trip also offers two extra nights’ accommodation in Broken Hill before or after the tour, for bookings made before June 7, 2026.
Departure dates are available in July and October this year.
The new itinerary from Tri State Tours starts with a night in the heritage town of Broken Hill, before taking adventurers in custom-designed, air-conditioned 4WD vehicles on a journey through the wild and rugged far west of NSW, tracing desert roads and authentic outback experiences.
The itinerary takes in age-old indigenous rock art and breathtaking gorges in Mutawintji National Park, a night by a billabong at the Warrawong on the Darling outback retreat near Wilcannia and an exploration of the wildlife-rich landscapes of Menindee Lakes and Kinchega National Park. After an outback pub lunch, there’s a memorable overnight stay at Bindara Station, renowned for its sweeping horizons, warm hospitality and river sunsets.
The tour then heads through the Willandra Lakes World Heritage area and on to Mungo National Park where a two-night stay at remote Mungo Lodge will unfold the magic of Mungo’s ancient lakebeds, relics of indigenous habitation more than 36,000 years ago and the park’s famous, wind-shaped lunettes – the 33km-long Walls of China.
The journey then takes in the spectacular Pery Sandhills near Wentworth and the meeting of the great Murray and Darling rivers before returning to Broken Hill for a final night’s stay.
Including 14 meals, the six-night tour is available for A$4485 per person, twin-share, and A$5670 for solo travellers. Departures are July 7 and October 12 this year.
Book by June 7, 2026, to receive two extra, free nights’ accommodation in Broken Hill before or after the tour for more exploration of the galleries, ghost towns, cafes, pubs and beautiful desert landscapes around Broken Hill. There’s also a free bottle of local wine for bookings made for the tour on July 7, 2026.
There are direct flights to Broken Hill from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide as well as low-cost, stress-free rail and coach services, in addition to driving.
