Sofitel Melbourne On Collins hosted a special Melbourne Food & Wine Festival event celebrating 30 years of Stephanie Alexander’s iconic The Cook’s Companion, a milestone that fittingly coincides with Sofitel Melbourne On Collins’ own 30th anniversary year, with the hotel set to mark its official birthday in July.

Held as part of the hotel’s ongoing cultural partnership with The Wheeler Centre, the exclusive evening provided a rare opportunity to welcome Alexander to the hotel and host the celebration in its No35 Restaurant. Against the backdrop of Melbourne’s glittering skyline, the event celebrated taste, tradition, and innovation –  values shared by both Alexander’s enduring influence on Australian food culture and Sofitel’s three decades of hospitality excellence. Guests were among the first to experience the 30th anniversary edition of the beloved culinary bible that has inspired generations of Australian home cooks since 1996, enjoying an intimate three-course menu designed by Alexander and brought to life by the culinary team at No35 Restaurant, led by Executive Chef, John Savage.

Hosted by renowned journalist and broadcaster Virginia Trioli, the evening celebrated storytelling, hospitality, and the shared values of taste, tradition, and innovation. The event was part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival program, reinforcing the hotel’s role as a hub for Melbourne’s food, wine, and cultural experiences.

“We are proud to constantly bring together legendary talent, meaningful storytelling, and unforgettable dining moments at the heart of the city,” said Stephan Leroy, General Manager of Sofitel Melbourne on Collins.
