In a move that speaks less to brute scale and more to old-fashioned relationships, the kind built over decades rather than dashboards, global travel loyalty and technology group arrivia has acquired luxury specialist Bon Voyage Travel, tightening its grip on the premium and luxury cruise sector.

The acquisition brings together two very different yet highly complementary strengths: Bon Voyage Travel’s deeply personal, advisor-led luxury cruise expertise and arrivia’s global loyalty partnerships, distribution muscle, and technology platform. Importantly, Bon Voyage Travel will continue to operate under its existing brand, an assurance that will matter greatly to a clientele that values continuity as much as champagne-on-arrival.

Luxury cruising, after all, is not a volume game. It is a trust business. And arrivia’s leadership appears to understand that preserving culture is as critical as unlocking growth.

“Luxury cruise is a relationship-driven business, and people and culture are everything,” said Mike Nelson, Chief Executive Officer of arrivia. “A core priority for me is ensuring we preserve what makes Bon Voyage Travel exceptional: the advisors, the service model, and the culture, while thoughtfully supporting the team with arrivia’s scale, technology, and partner reach. This is about strengthening what already works and creating long-term opportunity for the people behind the brand.”

Bon Voyage Travel has spent decades cultivating a fiercely loyal client base, built on advisor-led cruise planning, access to exclusive sailings, and longstanding relationships with the world’s most respected luxury cruise lines. It is a business model rooted in human expertise, precisely the kind of capability loyalty platforms increasingly seek as they chase higher-value travellers.

Continuity is a recurring theme. Ryan Hansen will continue as President of Bon Voyage Travel, a role he has held for 14 years, ensuring stability for clients, advisors, and supplier partners alike.

“Joining forces with arrivia gives us the ability to scale while staying true to what defines Bon Voyage Travel,” Hansen said. “We can remain highly focused on advisor excellence and client outcomes, while leveraging arrivia’s capabilities to expand thoughtfully, strengthen supplier partnerships, and accelerate our next phase of growth.”

Equally significant is the ongoing involvement of founder Peter Evans, who has owned Bon Voyage Travel for 50 years and will remain in an advisory capacity.

“Finding the right long-term partner was incredibly important to me,” Evans said. “Arrivia shares our values around service, relationships, and integrity. This combination ensures the legacy of Bon Voyage Travel continues, while positioning the company for its next phase of growth.”

From arrivia’s perspective, the acquisition is less about reinvention and more about amplification. The group plans to maintain Bon Voyage Travel’s advisor-led luxury model, while selectively extending its expertise across arrivia’s broader ecosystem, including loyalty programs and partner channels where affluent, experience-driven travellers increasingly sit.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the strategic intent is clear. In an era obsessed with automation and scale, arrivia is betting that luxury travel still belongs to those who know their clients by name and remember how they like their martini served at sea.

About the Writer.
Anne Keam - Bio PicAnne Keam’s story begins in Queensland, on a grain farm in the state’s wide western reaches, where the days were long and the lessons simple: work hard, look after your own, and don’t make a fuss. Those early years left their mark.
She later studied Arts at the University of Queensland, before doing what felt natural at the time, heading back home to the family property. But the world was calling. Anne packed a backpack and went looking, spending years on the road and finding herself most alive in South America. She wrote everything down along the way. Those notebooks, full of dust, colour and curiosity, eventually became her blog, a quiet, personal record of seeing the world and learning from it.
