East Coast Car Rentals, one of Australia’s leading independent car hire companies, is transforming its stores this Ausmusic Month to celebrate the artists, sounds, and stories that define Australian music.

Returning for a second consecutive year, East Coast Car Rentals will be transforming its stores across Australia for the full month of November. The national initiative aims to shine a spotlight on Australian music through special programming on radio and TV, and efforts to get more local music played in public venues via systems like crowdDJ.

The campaign comes at a significant moment, as the NSW Government ramps up investment in the sector with several new funding initiatives, including $7 million for 193 arts projects statewide,  highlighting the importance of supporting Australian music both on and off the road.

Building on this momentum, East Coast Car Rentals will use its digital channels to champion homegrown talent, spotlighting both emerging and established musicians, curating all-Australian road trip playlists, and encouraging travellers to “hit the road to an Aussie soundtrack.”

According to a recent survey conducted by East Coast Car Rentals, 73% of 18-24-year-olds say discovering local arts and music is an important part of their road trip experience, while 53% would even plan a road trip around towns known for live music and buskers.

Ben Whitmore, Chief Marketing Officer at East Coast Car Rentals, said: “Supporting Ausmusic Month was a natural next step for the company. Music and travel share a special connection, as they both inspire people to explore, express themselves, and create memories. With our CEO having spent time in a band himself, and seeing the positivity that came from our recent ‘I’m With the Band’ campaign, it felt only natural to keep that energy going by backing Ausmusic Month once again.”

Earlier this year, the brand launched its national ‘I’m With the Band’ campaign, and gave local musicians a platform to perform in front of new audiences. The campaign culminated in a series of outdoor performances in Manly, NSW, where eight up-and-coming artists took to the stage for a day of live, local music by the sea.
