A massive exhibition organised by the genius of Italian fashion, Dolce & Gabbana.
After Milan and Paris, the Palazzo Esposizioni Rome Exhibition was welcomed with an unprecedented attendance “From the Heart to the Hands” Fashion Extravagance.
A Grand Tour in the individual memory of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. A tribute to the collective memory of all Italians. It is a gesture of immense gratitude for Milan, the city that welcomed them and where everything began.
Milan is a metropolis that has offered much to wandering exiles in search of fortune. It is a cosmopolitan society paradigm of boundless hospitality, the mother of a fertile and profitable melting pot.
- The authorities presenting the event.
- The ancient clothing of the Sardinians
- A chandelier-lit fantasia where mannequins wear dreams stitched in Sicilian splendour.
From the Heart to the Hands, the Skilled Creators of Dreamlike Ideas, dear to the late director Federico Fellini, is a journey through time into what inspired the two designers to reach their desired goal.
The result of deep introspection in search of the muses and myths that fueled their creative genius until the realisation of their fertile ideas in their hands,
The skilled craftsmanship of the Maison’s employees. A work on the origins and references that have dotted their collections exhibited in 14 large rooms. Each is dedicated to giving life to the inanimate mannequins, proposing unimaginable clothing fantasies and rainbows like cornucopias from which infinite colours flow.
Each room is dedicated to art, music, and opera. From cinematic quotes to the “Gattopardo”, devotion to Sicily (Domenico’s land), passing through classical Greece and its Olympic deities and Sardinia with its ancestral clothing models of the grand immortal celebrations whose origins live on in the tradition of the carnival: fires of Sant’Antonio Mamuthones: masks and large furs, cowbells and lots of wine.
The Sardinian ancestors venerated the earth, its cyclical nature, and its harvests. Over time, the cultural and religious evolution of this moment of the year has been dedicated to Sant’Antonio. On January 17th, large fires were lit in his honour, illuminating the villages of Barbagia.
- Roman grandeur reborn—Dolce & Gabbana’s legion marches in embroidered majesty.
- A peacock’s dream—Dolce & Gabbana unleash a technicolour tempest of feathers.
- A couture colosseum—Dolce & Gabbana’s ode to Italy rises stitch by stitch.
The Mamuthones with the ISO ad horas, the masks of Marmolada and Mamoiada that have survived over the centuries thanks to the oral stories of the elders, dance around the fires under heavy cowbells and hides. Their faces are covered by grotesque masks expertly carved in wood. Under heavy cowbells and hides, the Mamuthones ask the land for a fruitful agricultural year. It is an incredible, exciting, touching show that lets us get in touch with the most authentic part of the island.
From classic fashion for significant events to freer and more carefree ones. D&G’s references are endless and reveal the choice to take a broader look at the world, which embraces the entire community of a country like Italy with a hint of internationality.
The devotion the fashion house has always reserved for the handmade translates into a unique dialogue between artisanal tradition and contemporaneity. Current events are reflected in the involvement of the new generation of artists who dialogue with the creations of the Brand through the cardinal themes of the Dolce&Gabbana style: from the visual arts to architecture, from music to Italianness, from theatre to the Dolce Vita.
- D&G creation
- Opera meets opulence—Tosca takes centre stage in plumes, pearls and pure panache.

BIO:
My career in civil aviation took flight in 1960, beginning with British European Airways (BEA). In 1971, I joined East African Airways (EAA), and shortly thereafter, I was honoured to be selected as one of the qualified candidates for the managerial role at Malaysia & Singapore Airlines (MAS).
In 1972, following the decision by the Malaysian and Singaporean governments to separate the airline into two national carriers, I continued my professional journey with Singapore Airlines. I proudly served as the Marketing Manager for Italy, Greece, and Malta until 1987.
With a journalist’s license I had previously acquired, I decided to transition fully into journalism. My debut was with the Milan-based press agency Milanopress, and I have continued to write and collaborate with both Italian and international press ever since.
I remain active in the field and am a proud member of the Foreign Press Club in Italy, headquartered in Rome.
