Thailand is carving its path as Asia’s ultimate luxury tourism hub by embracing wellness, culinary tourism, and high-equity branded residences, as unveiled at the Thailand Tourism Forum (TTF) 2025. Over 1,000 delegates gathered at the InterContinental Bangkok to hear industry leaders discuss the transformative trends reshaping the nation’s hospitality sector.
JOMO: The New Luxury Mindset
Replacing the ubiquitous “Fear of Missing Out” (FOMO), TTF introduced the “Joy of Missing Out” (JOMO) as the ethos driving high-end tourism. Travellers now prioritise unique, self-care-driven experiences over social validation, signalling a profound shift in luxury values.
“Luxury today is deeply personal and defined by meaningful experiences,” said Bill Barnett, Managing Director of C9 Hotelworks. “Wellness is no longer confined to spas; it’s about connecting with nature, embracing healthier lifestyles, and prioritizing longevity.”

The wellness tourism sector has surged to THB 1.2 billion (USD 5.7 billion) annually, fueled by Thailand’s innovative approach to health and well-being. Long-stay guests and their evolving spending habits are redefining the luxury market, with trailblazing facilities like the VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center in Phuket leading the charge.
Dr Wanviput Sanphasitvong, a prominent physician at VitalLife and Bumrungrad International Hospital, highlighted longevity tourism as wellness’s next frontier: “Thailand’s cutting-edge wellness facilities are attracting global attention, offering transformative health solutions for discerning travellers.”
Branded Residences: A THB 191 Billion Powerhouse
Branded residences—valued at THB 191 billion (USD 34.6 billion)—are emerging as pivotal to Thailand’s luxury tourism blueprint. These properties offer unparalleled exclusivity and align with travellers’ desire for high-equity, branded experiences. The rise of luxury neighbourhoods along Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River underscores this trend, blending premium accommodations with cultural and culinary hotspots.
Culinary Tourism: Thailand’s Flavourful Future
Authentic and innovative food and beverage experiences are taking centre stage in 2025. Patrick Finn, Vice President of Development at IHG Hotels & Resorts, emphasized this shift: “Creative culinary offerings are redefining luxury tourism, positioning Thailand as a gastronomic destination of global renown.”
Hotels like the multi-award-winning InterContinental Khao Yai Resort epitomize this culinary renaissance, delivering curated experiences that resonate with luxury travellers seeking deeper cultural connections.
Bangkok: Asia’s Playground City
Bangkok’s transformation into a global “playground city” is driven by the convergence of lifestyle brands, high-end hospitality, and a vibrant cultural tapestry. Jesper Palmqvist, STR’s Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific, revealed that luxury properties along the Chao Phraya River outperform competitors, reflecting a growing preference for nature-integrated urban retreats.
The Future of Luxury Hospitality
TTF 2025 underscored the importance of innovation in brand evolution. Siradej Donavanik of Dusit Hotels & Resorts noted how the recently opened Dusit Thani embodies the group’s forward-thinking ethos. Meanwhile, IHG’s diverse portfolio—including Kimpton and InterContinental brands—continues to set benchmarks for luxury hospitality.
A Collaborative Vision
Organized by C9 Hotelworks, TTF 2025 united a stellar lineup of industry partners, including STR, Horwath HTL, JLL Hotels and Hospitality, and AMCHAM Thailand. The forum’s host venue, InterContinental Bangkok, exemplifies Thailand’s commitment to delivering world-class hospitality.
As Thailand strides confidently into 2025, its focus on regenerative wellness, culinary excellence, and high-equity branding positions it as a beacon for luxury tourism in Asia. The convergence of innovation, sustainability, and cultural authenticity ensures Thailand is at the forefront of global travel trends.
