The Tasmania JackJumpers will appear on the global stage this weekend, competing at the 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup at Singapore Indoor Stadium from September 12–15.
The JackJumpers entered the NBL Competition in 2020 and quickly established themselves as an on-court powerhouse – the 2024 National Basketball League (NBL) Champions are now as synonymous with the island state as Wineglass Bay, Odd Jobs’ George the wombat, and the scallop pie! Bringing Tasmanian sportsmanship to the international arena, the JackJumpers will face Quimsa on September 13, at 5pm SGT. Much like their namesake the Jack Jumper ant, the team is aiming to jump high and score baskets throughout the competition,
Supported by Tourism Tasmania as their official “Air Sponsor”, the team is optimistic about having the world’s cleanest and freshest air on their side – and will be bringing it with them to Singapore via their basketballs, which will be pre-pumped ahead of arrival. Students at the Australian International School in Singapore will also be lucky enough to receive their own burst of Tasmanian air, as the 25 players put on a clinic and share stories, inspiration and merchandise, including mini basketballs.

Tasmania JackJumpers Head Coach, Scott Roth said he was so excited to be the Head Coach of the first team to represent Oceania, the NBL and Tasmania in this tournament.
“This tournament showcases the global nature of our sport and to be able to Defend the Island in Singapore is very special to myself and the players. We are so proud to represent Tasmania on the National and International sporting stage and will be putting our best foot forward to make Tasmanians proud”.

Other competing teams include Quimsa (Argentina), Unicaja (Spain), Al Riyadi (Lebanon), and the NBA G League United (USA), having won their respective regional championships. The final will be held on Sunday, September 15 at 7pm SGT.
Tasmania not only offers the freshest air for training, but open spaces and wild landscape for a range of sports, from cold plunges and ocean swimming, to mountain bike riding across rugged bushland.
