Regarded as one of São Paulo’s premier hotels, Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo Hotel lives up to its reputation as the place to stay near Avenida Paulista. Minor Hotels acquired the formerly Portuguese-owned Tivoli group, with properties in Portugal and Brazil, in 2016, instantly giving Minor its entrée into the South American market.
Tivoli Mofarrej, named after its founding family, is situated in a privileged position just one block away from Avenida Paulista, the traditional heart of São Paulo’s financial district that is also home to several attractions of interest to visitors, most notably the extraordinary Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) that seems to defy gravity as it hovers in the air its privileged location. Across the street from MASP is an expanse of greenery extending several blocks into the exclusive Cerqueira César residential neighbourhood bordering the avenue in the Jardins district. Tivoli Mofarrej is located next to this parkland and gives guestrooms facing north a view of the park and a stream of sunshine into the rooms.
Rooms and suites at Tivoli Mofarrej are decorated in the understated elegance expected in a five-star property catering to sophisticated travellers. The hotel is famous throughout the city for its restaurant, SEEN, which occupies the top floor of the building. The walls of windows provide dazzling views of the city at night when the lights of the world’s third-largest city extend as far as the eye can see. Within those walls is the exclusive establishment where fine dining is enjoyed by the city’s elite in a refined atmosphere.
One of the highlights of a stay at Tivoli Mofarrej is the spa. Without the tradition of massage and body treatments found in such countries as Thailand and Morocco, Brazil is not generally known for its spa treatments; however, any guest of Tivoli who has had a treatment in the hotel’s spa would know there is at least one place in the country where exceptional therapists induce a sense of relaxation and wellbeing. As part of the Minor group, the hotel is home to an Anantara spa that brings the renowned expertise of Anantara’s expert therapists to South America.
Due to the undeniable physical beauty of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo usually languishes in the shadow of Rio as a travel destination. Still, its varied attractions merit much more recognition. While it may not have the visual appeal of Rio, São Paulo makes up for a lack of dramatic topography with an array of outstanding museums, excellent restaurants, and exciting boutiques where Brazil’s creative talents are visible in the fashion, homewares, and artworks for sale. These aspects of São Paulo are easily experienced within walking distance of the hotel.
