The One for Nature. In a bold move that cements Thailand’s status as a global leader in sustainable tourism, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the third edition of its highly anticipated campaign, “The One for Nature.” With the striking new tagline, “Leave No Trace Behind,” this initiative reaffirms the nation’s commitment to eco-friendly travel and positions Thailand at the forefront of the global shift towards responsible tourism.

A Visionary Approach to Sustainable Tourism

Mr Nithee Seeprae, TAT’s Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, expressed the campaign’s profound impact, stating, “This initiative is a testament to our dedication to preserving Thailand’s natural beauty while offering unforgettable experiences to our visitors. “The One for Nature” campaign reflects our vision of positioning Thailand as a sustainable, experience-based tourism leader. Through various activities, we aim to create memorable experiences that contribute to global conservation efforts and address the growing demand for eco-friendly travel options.”

The campaign’s launch was marked by an eco-centric event at SOOKSIAM, located on the G Floor of ICONSIAM, Bangkok. Held on August 17-18, the two-day event was a vibrant showcase of interactive booths designed to engage tourists and locals in sustainable practices. Workshops on recycling and upcycling—turning trash into treasure—were key highlights, drawing significant participation from environmentally conscious travellers.

A Nationwide Tour Promoting Eco-Conscious Travel

The “Leave No Trace Behind” campaign is not confined to Bangkok alone. It is set to embark on a tour across three of Thailand’s most beloved tourist cities. The tour kicks off at Ao Nang Walking Street in Krabi on August 24-25, followed by Wualai and Tha Pae Walking Streets in Chiang Mai on August 30-31, and concludes at Ko Samui in Surat Thani on September 14-15. Each location will host activities and workshops to educate and inspire tourists to adopt sustainable travel practices. The One for Nature Online Activity.

This nationwide tour is a testament to TAT’s commitment to spreading the message of responsible tourism worldwide. It ensures that travellers from around the globe understand the importance of preserving Thailand’s natural and cultural heritage.

Win a Sustainable Travel Experience in Thailand

To further amplify the campaign’s reach, TAT has launched an innovative online activity inviting travellers to participate in a creative contest. The challenge? To design a digital postcard that encapsulates the essence of sustainable travel in Thailand. Participants are encouraged to share their creations on social media, rallying their friends to vote for their entries.

The prize? Three incredible travel packages, each offering a three-day, two-night stay in some of Thailand’s most breathtaking destinations: Khao Lak, Phang-nga, and two in Phuket. These packages, which include round-trip flights for two (international and domestic), luxurious accommodations, meals, and immersive eco-friendly activities, are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Thailand sustainably.

The contest, accessible via www.tourismthailand.org/theonefornature, is open until September 15. The three entries with the highest number of votes will be announced on September 17. The travel packages are valid from October 1-20, 2024.

Strengthening Thailand’s Global Image

“The One for Nature” campaign is a strategic effort by TAT to enhance the global brand of “Amazing Thailand.” By fostering collaboration with local agencies and communities, TAT aims to position Thailand as a premier destination for quality leisure that prioritizes sustainability. The campaign is designed to resonate with environmentally conscious tourists from Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas—those who are not only looking for unique travel experiences but also want to impact the destinations they visit positively.

“We are confident that the ‘Leave No Trace Behind’ campaign will reinforce our communication message: ‘Amazing Thailand, Your Stories Never End,’” Mr. Nithee added. “By encouraging travelers to collaborate in preserving tourism sites, we ensure that the memorable experiences of travel are rooted in conserving our environment, natural beauty, and local communities. Ultimately, nature plays a crucial role in maintaining Thailand’s status as a top global destination.”

A Call to Action for Responsible Tourism

As the world continues to grapple with environmental degradation, Thailand’s “Leave No Trace Behind” campaign serves as a powerful reminder of the role tourism can play in conservation. TAT’s initiative highlights the importance of sustainable travel and invites global tourists to be active participants in preserving the world’s natural wonders.
