Corporate and leisure haven makes an exciting (& delicious) addition to Cairns hospitality scape 2Following its acquisition in 2021 by the award-winning Alivio Group, Sunshine Tower Hotel in Cairns has completed the first stage of a multi-million-dollar upgrade, transforming the 61-room Sheridan Street property into a contemporary haven for corporate and leisure guests.

This month, at an event attended by tourism leaders and industry professionals, the Alivio Group and Sunshine Tower Hotel management team unveiled the hotel’s thoughtfully reimagined surroundings, elevating its relaxation and dining experience.

Central to the hotel’s enhanced guest amenities are its dining and resort facilities, which feature a luxe new restaurant in a confident coastal palette of timber and texture, elegantly upholstered feature walls and furniture that fits within a chic ‘Paradiso’ theme.  Continuing through the lobby to outside, the rainforest pool and spa sparkle within the Mediterranean-inspired sun terrace, offering plenty of shade with mature palms, fragrant frangipanis, and bountiful greenery.   Pops of nautical blue and yellow adorn the cushioned sun lounges with plentiful tables and chairs beckoning guests to indulge in al fresco dining and relaxation.

Alivio Group’s managing director, Mark Whitby, said the design acumen and hard work, undertaken exclusively by local contractors and tradespeople over the past two years, have exceeded expectations in quality and craftsmanship.

“Working with many committed and exceptional people has been great in achieving our vision.  The results speak for themselves and strategically position the hotel to match Cairns’ discerning corporate leisure market,” Mr Whitby said.

According to Mr Whitby, with the initial focus on redesigning and developing dining and relaxation facilities central to a comfortable and memorable stay, they also completed an extensive refresh of the common areas on all accommodation floors.  Attention to detail is evident with distinctive photographic feature walls immersing guests in the tropical destination.

With its light, luxe and coastal vibe, The Lobby Bar and Kitchen features architectural detail, soft lighting and a large picture window to offer guests a variety of seating, from comfortable upholstered banquettes for larger groups to more intimate tables for two.

Welcoming hotel guests and Cairns visitors ‘locals’ for breakfast seven days and dinner six nights, The Lobby Bar and Kitchen has a delicious seasonal menu with a buffet and a la carte for breakfast and various fast or leisurely dining dishes.  Hand-stretched pizzas, entrees and salads, pasta and signature smoked mains give plenty of choice for all appetites and dietary needs.

With stage one of Alivio Group’s upgrade program complete, stage two is underway. It focuses on refreshing the hotel’s façade with painting and lighting, replacing steel with glass balustrades for guest room balconies, and ensuring continued jobs for local tradespeople. In addition to these changes, a rebrand for the hotel is in the pipeline and will be announced in future months.
