For the past 60 years, Sofitel has been embodying French art de vivre worldwide. The year 2024 marks the brand’s diamond jubilee celebrated with a series of exclusive events at Sofitel hotels all over the world. To commemorate this milestone, Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach hosted an exceptional celebration with a rooftop garden party on 21 July.
Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach invited 60 VIP guests, clients and partners on 21 July for an afternoon of casual pétanque and interactive food and drink stations in the property’s new event space, the elegant Sky Terrace, with sweeping panoramic views of the breathtaking Broadbeach skyline and its sparkling allure.
Guests celebrated the historic occasion amidst the event’s extraordinary audio-visual technology, courtesy of AVPartners, by participating in an exciting pétanque tournament that took place on a custom-made terrain within an 8m x 4m model of the distinctive Sofitel links logo. Pétanque, a popular sport that originated in 1907 in La Ciotat, Provence, in the south of France, is deeply ingrained in the French cultural zeitgeist and thus held symbolic importance as it created a cultural connection between Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach and its French heritage. The tournament’s winning teams were gifted bespoke bottles of Pommery champagne with custom Sofitel 60th anniversary branding to commemorate the brand’s diamond jubilee.
The event treated guests to a mélange of refreshments and decadent cuisine, including beverage stations featuring Vranken-Pommery, Grey Goose and Aix-en-Provence, an Eustralis caviar station, gourmet charcuterie and hors d’oeuvres from the culinary team at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, a wide selection of cheeses by Calendar Cheese and an apple tarte tatin station courtesy of Simon George & Sons.
“As Sofitel celebrates 60 years, Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach celebrates 19 years. We are grateful to everyone who has created memories with Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach and we look forward to tailoring bespoke and authentic experiences that will continue to inspire both locals and international travellers to connect with our iconic Gold Coast property,” said Fraser Ross, General Manager of Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach.
