This summer, Verina Astra, one of two luxurious properties from Verina hotels, proudly announces a unique collaboration between BRVTO Creative Bureau and acclaimed designer Mark Inglis, who is showcasing his craft as part of the first art residency on the island.
Happening now through August 31st, 2024, guests can witness the creative process of a true visionary and craftsman as he seamlessly blends local aesthetics with his own contemporary vision. Known for his immersive hands-on approach, Inglis translates his experience of the serene surroundings and authentic local flair into unique artifacts, drawing inspiration from the stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the island.
Craft in the Heart of Sifnos
This residency is part of a dynamic commitment to offer an immersive and intimate island experience through initiatives that meaningfully celebrate and respect local culture. The residency embodies a dedication to fostering creativity on the island and providing guests with an enriching, unforgettable stay and unique takeaways. Throughout the residency, guests are invited to engage organically with both the artist and his artifacts while viewing his work in progress. This is a rare opportunity to gain insight into a holistic creative process and to own a uniquely Sifnos-inspired contemporary creation.
Art and design enthusiasts, collectors, and curious travelers are invited to Verina Astra this summer to partake in this immersive artistic experiment and own a part of this exclusive collaboration. Inglis collaborates with local ceramists to infuse authentic style and method from this island into his pieces. Inglis’ one-of-a-kind designs incorporate a multitude of mediums and techniques: crocheting using recycled yarn, sewing hand-loomed fabrics, and weaving foliage foraged from the land, among others.
Verina Astra provides a seamless blend of serene comfort and traditional charm, and this exclusive artistic collaboration is the perfect backdrop to authentically experience Sifnos. Verina Astra is perched on a hillside overlooking the Aegean, offering stunning, panoramic views of the sea below and the sky above. The 16-room boutique hotel receives its name from the Greek word for stars, astra. Unwind in this serene haven or exercise the creative spirit through cooking classes or excursions to pottery workshops.
After delighting in the creative wonders of Inglis’ collection, treat the senses to a Cretan feast under the stars. Adjacent to the Verina Astra, the award-winning Bostani Bar & Restaurant headed by chef Nikos Thomas is surrounded by fragrant herbs and vegetables, from which most of the menu’s ingredients are sourced.
Each item handmade by Mark Inglis is priced individually.
