Perth Paris Departure. In a landmark move, Qantas has officially launched its direct flights connecting Perth to Paris, marking a significant milestone in aviation history. This unprecedented route re-establishes the Australian carrier’s services to the French capital for the first time in two decades, reducing travel time by approximately three hours compared to the previous fastest routes. The new Perth to Paris connection is now the longest non-stop flight to France from any point globally, offering unparalleled convenience for travellers.

The inaugural flight took off amidst much fanfare, with Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson heralding the service as a significant leap forward in long-haul travel. “There is a palpable excitement among our customers and crew with Qantas returning to Paris,” Hudson stated. “The demand for direct flights on long-haul routes has surged, and our non-stop services from Perth to London and Rome have garnered exceptionally high satisfaction rates.”

The timing of this new route is strategic, catering to the busy European summer and the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. Initially operating four times weekly, the service will transition to three weekly flights starting mid-August. This addition is set to boost the number of seats between Australia and Europe by 75,000 annually, significantly enhancing connectivity.

Western Australian Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, Rita Saffioti, emphasized the importance of direct flights in the state’s tourism strategy. “We are thrilled to see this direct link between Perth and Paris come to fruition. It’s a vital addition to our network of 20 international destinations, enhancing our appeal as a tourism hub.”

Saffioti highlighted the seamless connections from major Australian cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, making Perth the ultimate gateway to Paris for Australian travellers. Conversely, French tourists can now easily explore Australia’s vast natural beauty, with Qantas offering connections to over 60 domestic destinations.

This route will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, known for its long-haul efficiency and passenger comfort. The aircraft features large windows, increased cabin humidity, and mood lighting designed to reduce jet lag, ensuring passengers arrive refreshed.

To commemorate the launch, Qantas introduced exclusive customer initiatives. Passengers in Business Class can enjoy limited-edition Martin Grant-designed pyjamas and amenity kits. Culinary offerings curated by Neil Perry include French classics like Bouillabaisse of snapper and Skull Island prawns, paired with the sophisticated French 75 cocktail. Moreover, the inflight entertainment system will feature iconic French films, including “Amélie” and “Midnight in Paris,” throughout July.

This new route follows a significant agreement between Qantas and Perth Airport to expand the airline’s western hub. This partnership, alongside Qantas’ fleet renewal program, will add 4.4 million seats to and from Perth by 2031.
