Raes 2024 AIR__0000403_WebRenowned for supporting established and emerging artists, Maison Perrier-Jouët and Raes on Wategos are pleased to unveil the centrepiece in Eytan Messiah’s work as 2024 artist in residence. Following a successful residency at the iconic hotel in 2022, Eytan returned to Raes to reimagine its paradisiacal pool, culminating with a bespoke tile and ceramic mural installation that features a poolside “push for champagne” button.

As guests relax poolside, they can now indulge with a glass of Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs, delivered to their luxury lounger in style. All with the press of a button, positioned elegantly among Messiah’s mural, the hotel experience is elevated, inviting guests to savour the unique fusion of art, champagne and coastal bliss.

“My residency at Raes on Wategos has been a deeply immersive experience,” Messiah said upon conclusion of his time at Raes. “Glazed ceramic tiles have adorned our human history for thousands of years and I am always keen for my work to centre around these valuable traditions. The beauty and history of the Wategos area as well as the hotel itself have been a rich palette to draw from. My handcrafted tiles and ceramic mural look to celebrate these elements and add to the story of Raes on Wategos.”

Established in 2019, the Maison Perrier-Jouët and Raes on Wategos artist in residence program celebrates the decadent dialogue between art, champagne and boutique luxury, central to the core values of both brands. Each year, an artist is invited to reside at Raes to make work which reflects the essence of the hotel, created in the artist’s chosen medium. Since inception, the series has welcomed the likes of French-born Australian artist Stanislas Piechaczek and men’s fashion label COMMAS to the boutique beachfront hotel.

Messiah’s partnership with Perrier-Jouët and Raes commenced in 2022 with a series of captivating ceramic artworks, which are displayed at the hotel and available to purchase via the Raes website. The artist’s tile and ceramic mural was completed in 2024, with guests of the hotel now invited to experience the poolside “push for champagne” service during their stays.
