Wendy Wu Tours Australia is pleased to welcome Sam Storey to the role of State Account Manager, Victoria.
Originally from Sydney, Sam started his tourism career in hospitality, before making the switch to retail travel. He worked with the Flight Centre Travel Group for more than eight years, initially as a sales consultant, before progressing to become a store manager at Flight Centre Randwick where he turned the store into one of Sydney’s most successful storefronts.
Sam was later appointed to a Business Development Manager position, specialising in Luxury Small Ship Cruise sales for FCTG in NSW, and later South Australia. During this time, he also completed additional industry training at FCTG’s inhouse Business School.
In 2020, he stepped outside the industry for several years to take on a challenging high end spirits sales role in the liquor industry, which saw him relocate from Adelaide to his current home base in Melbourne.
Sam says, “On my return to Melbourne, and given the rebound in tourism post covid, the timing was perfect for me to return to the travel industry, which I’m truly passionate about. With serendipitous timing – and armed with the skill set that comes with a solid background in sales and retail travel – Wendy Wu Tours was the next natural move for me.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to join this highly experienced team as their additional Melbourne based Account Manager and look forward to travelling across Victoria in the coming months to introduce myself to agents and key partners and broaden their awareness for the incredible breadth of tour product and destinations Wendy Wu Tours offers travellers.”
Head of Sales for Wendy Wu Tours Australia, Belind Ward, said Sam’s appointment comes at a time of positive growth for the company.
“In recent years our business has had to adapt and evolve, but we’re now in a vigorous growth phase thanks to robust sales and continued strong interest in international travel,” she shared.
“Wendy Wu Tours has gone from strength to strength over the past two years, adding new destinations and fresh product that diversifies and broadens our appeal with clients, from solo travellers to hotel, rail and cruise enthusiasts. To keep up with this demand, adding more Wendy Wu ambassadors to our team is essential, and I’m delighted that we can expand our Australian sales team and welcome Sam Storey onboard in Victoria.”
Wendy Wu Tours is currently undertaking a recruitment drive, and is on the lookout for reservations and operations specialists, plus an additional Sydney based Trade Account Manager who will report through to Belinda Ward directly.
Belinda says, “The right person will be smart, curious, dynamic and fun with exceptional customer service skills – and just like Sam – be a team player with a passion for people and travel. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.”
Wendy Wu Tours offers its team great travel opportunities around the world, career growth and development, and a competitive salary with bonus pay. Email careers@wendywutours.com.au for more or visit www.wendywutours.com.au
