Visitors and residents alike can explore information on attractions, restaurants, hotels and all that Delaware has to offer on a newly redesigned VisitDelaware.com website launched by the Delaware Tourism Office during National Travel and Tourism Week. With more than a million visitors to the website annually, users can find local events, business listings and other helpful resources related to trip planning – now with updated website functions and additional accessibility features.

The new website utilizes AudioEye, a platform that automatically discovers and repairs accessibility issues and provides visual and hearing tools to encourage an inclusive and customized user experience.

“We are thrilled to launch this newly redesigned website just in time for Delaware’s busy summer tourist season,” said Jessica Welch, director of the Delaware Tourism Office. “The tourism industry is a significant economic driver in our state, and our website is one of the many tools we use to market Delaware as a premier destination. By incorporating the new accessibility options on VisitDelaware.com, we hope to provide a better experience for all users on the site and encourage even more people to visit our wonderful state.”

In addition to the accessibility features on the redesigned website, the Delaware Tourism Office is now able to feature a promotional video on the homepage, providing a visual representation to potential visitors of what makes Delaware special. Currently, the advertisement features attractions such as Constitutions Yards in Wilmington, Tre Sorelle Dolce Ice Cream and Mini Golf in Wyoming, Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park in Bear, the Indian River Inlet and more.

In 2022, Delaware welcomed 28.6 million visitors, including 9.8 million overnight visitors, who spent a record $6.5 billion and contributed more than $690 million in taxes to state and local governments. Tourism is Delaware’s fourth largest private employer, supporting more than 63,000 jobs in 2022. Without tourism, every Delaware household would pay an additional $1,764 in taxes. Additional information on how tourism contributes to Delaware’s economy is available on the Visit Delaware website.

National Travel and Tourism Week, celebrated May 19-25 this year, is an annual celebration organized by the U.S. Travel Association. The week highlights the contributions of the travel and tourism industry, showcasing tourism’s essential role in driving economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities and enriching lives.
