Qatar Airways has again set a new benchmark for innovation in the airline industry with the groundbreaking debut of Sama 2.0, the world’s first AI digital human cabin crew, during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024 opening day in Dubai. The airline, renowned for winning the ‘World’s Best Airline’ award seven times, showcased its technological prowess through an immersive stand that captivated attendees’ attention.

Revolutionary Digital Crew Leads Innovation Powered by sophisticated conversational AI, Sama, Qatar Airways’ second-generation AI-powered digital crew, engaged seamlessly with visitors, showcasing a deep understanding of the airline’s operations and services. Her interactive presence demonstrated the potential of personalized travel experiences through QVerse, the airline’s immersive platform. As Sama continues to evolve through customer interactions, she promises to redefine how passengers experience air travel.

Groundbreaking Stand Offers Immersive Insights Alongside Sama’s remarkable debut, Qatar Airways unveiled an innovative stand designed to immerse visitors in a multi-sensory journey. The stand, featuring virtual reality (VR) tours and a multi-sensory pod, allowed visitors to virtually explore the airline’s fleet and experience the luxury of the award-winning Qsuite. The advanced technology demonstrated Qatar Airways’ relentless pursuit of unparalleled travel experiences.

CEO’s Vision for Future Travel Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer emphasized the airline’s dedication to enhancing travel experiences through innovation. “Qatar Airways is thrilled to return to ATM Dubai with Sama 2.0, which not only represents cutting-edge of digital innovation in human interaction but also enhances the travel experience for all our passengers. As a multiple award-winning airline, this aligns perfectly with our commitment to exceeding expectations,” he said.

Expanding Global Network to Meet Demand In addition to unveiling Sama 2.0, Qatar Airways announced ambitious plans to expand its global network by launching new routes, resuming flights, and increasing frequencies to meet growing travel demand. The airline will inaugurate flights to the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Portugal (Lisbon), and Germany (Hamburg), among others.

Key seasonal destinations that will see enhanced services include Turkey (Adana, Antalya, Bodrum), Morocco (Marrakech), and Greece (Mykonos). These will be complemented by increased flight frequencies to major global hubs like New York, Paris, Rome, and others.

Strategic Increase in Flight Frequencies The airline is launching new destinations and strategically increasing flight frequencies to high-demand routes. Key increases include:

  • Bangkok: 35 to 38 weekly flights
  • Casablanca: 4 to 7 weekly flights
  • Barcelona: 14 to 21 weekly flights
  • New York (JFK): 14 to 21 weekly flights

This expansion cements Qatar Airways’ position as a leading global airline, providing customers more flexibility and connectivity.
