Guests will begin their journey with a one-night stay at Hobart’s storytelling hotel
This will be followed by the three-day fully guided Winter Escape Walk on Maria Island exploring tall ancient forests and world-heritage sites teeming with wildlife. After each day’s walk, evenings will be spent at the newly re-designed historic Bernacchi House in Darlington – the only heritage-listed house in a Convict World Heritage area – with an aperitif by the fireplace and a chance to see the starry southern skies, followed by a three-course meal where Tasmania’s abundance of incredible produce is hero.
A final two-night stay at the award-winning Saffire Freycinet, a Luxury Lodges of Australia property on the edge of Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park, will bookend the experience in ultimate luxury. Guests will then be transferred back to Hobart.
At Saffire Freycinet, guests will be able to explore the secluded coves along Great Oyster Bay, book a restorative treatment at Spa Saffire or relax on their private balcony and soak up the views of the Hazards Mountains. Dining will be at Palate restaurant, one of Australia’s most revered fine dining restaurants with tasting menus changing daily with produce fresh from the water or the paddock.
Amanda Byrne, General Manager of Wild Bush Luxury, which operates The Maria Island Walk noted “Winter on Tasmania’s east coast is particularly spectacular with stunning weather and bright crisp days. It’s the perfect time of year to disconnect and embrace Tasmania’s natural side, with the added treat of being enveloped in luxury in the evenings and enjoying some of the best seasonal produce Tasmania has to offer.”
Federal Group General Manager of Tourism Ross Boobyer said the new Winter Wilderness Escape package was a natural fit between three of Tasmania’s most outstanding visitor experiences.
“We’re delighted to partner with the team at Wild Bush Luxury’s Maria Island Walk and to offer guests a seamless winter escape combining luxury accommodation with an incredible guided nature hike,” Mr Boobyer said.
“We believe a night at MACq 01 in the harbourside heart of Hobart is a wonderful start to the week away, while two nights at Saffire Freycinet post-walk will be a very welcome reward. Guests can join any of our Signature experiences and explore the Freycinet peninsular, or simply relax and take in the views from our luxury lodge,” he said.
Prices for the Winter Wilderness Escape start from $9,770 for two people including all accommodation, most meals and beverages and transfers as well a signature experiences, tours and the fully inclusive Maria Island Walk with private guides.
The Winter Wilderness Escape is available on selected departures from 10 May through to 20 August 2024.
