Highlighting the partnership’s urgency and strategic focus, Natalia Bayona, Executive Director of UN Tourism, emphasized the need for a paradigm shift in how hospitality startups are nurtured. “Regrettably, a staggering 90% of startups in the hospitality sector falter,” Bayona noted. “Our objective is to reverse this trend by laying a more resilient foundation that supports these ventures and integrates them smoothly into the broader ecosystem. With technology now a cornerstone in 70% of tourism businesses, our role in facilitating these connections and fostering a conducive environment for real-world validation is more critical than ever.”
