Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano OnsenAfter its recent acquisition by Travel + Leisure Co. (NYSE:TNL) –  the world’s leading membership and leisure travel company – Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano has joined one of the region’s biggest vacation clubs, Club Wyndham South Pacific, as its 53rd resort.

Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano is a traditional Ryokan resort and will continue to operate as one, with offerings including a meticulously prepared breakfast and dinner, both Western and Japanese bedding styles, tatami flooring, cultivated gardens and both indoor and outdoor onsen with natural spring water. Many travellers who stay at a Ryokan consider it the best part of their holiday and nearly 60,000 members of Club Wyndham South Pacific will now have the opportunity to enjoy the authentic experience.

Vacation ownership is a flexible, points-based form of ownership in holiday properties, where members can choose the dates, location, size and standard of accommodation for their holidays. After purchasing an ownership, points return year after year for the life of the club, and can be spent, saved or borrowed.

Club Wyndham South Pacific boasts 53 properties across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Hawaii (US) and Europe. Through additional benefits programs, members have the option to travel the world utilising thousands of timeshare properties, the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program and other exchange methods.

“Japan is one of the most visited destinations for international travellers in the world. Visitor numbers are expected to climb to 33.1 million this year, a 31% increase on 2023, when record amounts were spent by international tourists,” said Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director, International Operations, Travel + Leisure Co.

“Japan was the most popular overseas tourist destination for Australians – a key part of our member base – during the last southern hemisphere summer and its popularity shows no sign of abating. Making Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano part of Club Wyndham South Pacific is a way of recognising that current and anticipated demand and ensuring club owners have a range of Japanese experiences to enjoy,” he added.

The 36-room Club Wyndham Chikumakan Nagano features a mix of Western and traditional Japanese style rooms, some of which will be available immediately to club owners. The others will be added progressively over time as the club expands, while some areas of the resort will undergo immediate refurbishment.

Guests will have a railway station just a short taxi ride from the resort and can reach Tokyo in approximately two hours through Shinkansen. The resort is well-positioned for guests looking to enjoy the region’s attractions, which include hiking and cycling trails, ski and snowboarding fields, and culturally rich landmarks including Zenkoji Temple, the samurai-era town of Narai-Juku or one of Japan’s twelve original castles, Matsumoto Castle.
