Collette’s tours to Japan are amongst the company’s top sellers in the Australian market, with the strong growth seen in 2023 continuing into 2024.

From the bright lights of Tokyo to tranquil landscapes, Japan continues to please visitors with its rich tapestry of experiences that few destinations can surpass.

Japan: Past & Present
<https://www.gocollette.com/en-au/tours/asia/japan/japan-past-and-present?packagedateid=104223&packageid=15482>  is the company’s small group 13-day Explorations tour which gives travellers a unique insight into the Land of the Rising Sun. The tour has been a big hit with guests, the overwhelming majority of which has rated the tour as “excellent” or above.

Specially crafted experiences such as spending a day with female Ama pearl divers are key to this rating. Travellers watch on as the divers perform a demonstration, then later enjoy a traditional Ama lunch where they’ll get to learn more about these women and their fascinating profession.

Later in the tour, there is a visit to a working Buddhist Temple at Mount Koya. Here guests stay overnight where they sleep on a traditional Tatami mat, after enjoying a delicious vegetarian meal alongside the resident monks.

During a two-night stay in Hiroshima, there is the opportunity to hear first-hand from an A-Bomb survivor at the Peace Park & Museum.

“With Collette’s highly trained tour guides, language is no barrier as guides interpret and provide advice,” said Roger Clulow, Collette’s Product Designer.

“This makes delving into the nation’s history and interacting with local experts much easier. It’s this focus that is making our tours so popular.”
