The contemporary lifestyle hotel brand, art’otel, owned by PPHE Hotel Group – the international hospitality real estate group which develops, owns, and operates hotels and resorts – is pleased to announce that its first Italy-based hotel will land in the heart of Rome within the first half of the year.

art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio is just a walk away from the city’s main shopping districts and iconic landmarks, such as the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. The charming area of Piazza Sallustio embodies the essence of the art and history of the Eternal City, with the famous Horti Sallustiani right in front of the hotel. The new hotel will feature 99 contemporary guest rooms and suites, many with terraces and all boasting artworks by Roman Contemporary Artist Pietro Ruffo. Synonymous with all art’otels, Rome Piazza Sallustio will bring a buzzing restaurant and bar scene popular with locals and travelers alike, an on-site art gallery packed with ever-changing exhibitions, and exciting wellness, cultural and culinary events for guests and the neighborhood.

Featuring a range of curated, art-inspired properties, the contemporary hospitality group offers travelers an exciting canvas in the world’s most exciting cities. Each hotel is designed by a Signature Artist – who works in partnership with the interior design studio – forming a cultural, gastronomic, and social hub filled with cosmopolitan guests in buildings as striking and individual as the stunning art they host. In addition to providing in-room art, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio will be brought to life by Pietro Ruffo –  known for his international exhibitions and collaborations with Dior, The Vatican Apostolic Library, and more. Ruffo is curating and designing all hotel interiors – including the public areas, restaurants, bars, terraces, and more.

Ruffo recounts: “The collection of the art’otel unfolds stories of the different historical layers that have built Rome over the centuries, from the sky above us with a particular focus on constellations, to the flora and fauna on which we walk, but also the people who have lived in this city over the different centuries”. He sees the hotel as his chance to leave his legacy, his particular point of view on the city in which he was born and lived, and to give visitors the tools to “see the city with a different perspective and to feel the city with different eyes.”

The redeveloped property will be home to an array of culture and entertainment facilities with Ruffo’s artworks woven throughout the interior design for a truly immersive art-led experience. Ruffo will be working closely with lead interior designer Eyal Shoan and his studio Digital Space, to create a truly immersive and thought-provoking art experience from the moment guests step inside.

“We are excited about the collaboration with Eyal Shoan and Pietro Ruffo,” said General Manager Diego Di Gaetano. “While many hotels display art, the brand’s ongoing collaboration with Signature Artists across the globe for interior design and events programming creates one-of-a-kind, immersive art experiences. Ruffo’s works of art will enhance every corner of the hotel, including the rooms,  creating a unique contrast between the hotel’s contemporary and historic location.”

Guests staying at the Rome Piazza Sallustio location can also take advantage of the hotel group’s signature art’beat program, which highlights cultural and artistic events. The art’otel gallery provides opportunities for up-and-coming in addition to established artists, allowing them to create and exhibit works on-site free for guests to explore. The packed art’beat cultural programming emphasizes art, music, fashion, wellness, and culinary events for guests and locals.

The Roman destination will join existing, vibrant art’otel properties in some of Europe’s most creative cities, including London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zagreb, and Cologne.
