Cartier expands its global travel retail network into one of the world’s most prominent travel hubs, Changi Airport in Singapore, with longstanding partner Valiram, further deepening the Maison’s connection with travellers. Opening its first boutique nestled within Terminal 3, it marks a next step for the Maison in the expansion of its travel retail footprint as it seeks to connect with global travellers. The boutique fulfils Cartier’s journey to connect with travellers across Europe, Oceania, and Asia as the Maison enhances its presence in global travel hubs to craft an exceptional retail experience within key travel destinations worldwide.
Expanding Footprint to Singapore to Connect with Global Travellers
With its dynamic expansion roadmap, Cartier has established a network of over 20 boutiques in major travel hubs across the world, such as Paris, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Dubai. This global presence has been further strengthened by the recent opening at Changi Airport after four new Cartier airport boutiques were unveiled in 2023.
The new boutique offers elegant design and luxurious ambience that enable travellers to explore the unparalleled artistry that defines the brand. Cartier has a rich heritage and long-standing history of creativity that extends across centuries and continents, drawing inspiration from beauty around the world and establishing strong connections with various cultures since its inception.
A Tribute to Singaporean Heritage
Embracing the vibrant culture, architectural and natural beauty of Singapore, the boutique harmoniously melds local inspiration with Cartier’s enduring design principles. The concept for the boutique presents two contrasting atmospheres of urbanisation and greenery, evoking the continuous juxtaposition of tranquillity with the bustling pace of Singapore.
The boutique’s façade is inspired by the symmetrical silhouettes of local landmarks. Inside, the design of the boutique’s interiors pays tribute to the tropical foliage and architectural features of the rich local landscape. Guests are welcomed into the boutique by the iconic Super Trees and tropical foliage of the Gardens by the Bay, ingeniously incorporated into the signature feature wall. This custom creation, featuring straw marquetry, evokes the movement of four panthers roaming amongst lush vegetation: a celebration of the Maison’s fourth boutique in the Lion city.
A tribute to the city’s architectural characteristics and identity also accompanies guests on their journey.
The warm, inviting atmosphere is inspired by the exuberance of the Straits Chinese and Peranakan heritage, with the belief that the use of auspicious colours will bring longevity, wealth and prosperity. The Cartier champagne tone and added pea green hue blend seamlessly with textured copper-coloured walls that evoke the opulence and intricate patterns of Peranakan textiles.
The green marbled fluted wall echoes the verticality of Singapore’s urban landscape, while a blend of wood elements brings warmth and a touch of nature to the space.
The allure of the boutique is further enhanced by the marble floors that drew inspiration from the iconic Merlion. The pattern of the legendary creature’s shell-like scales is featured across all corners of the space. The boutique promises to be a fresh, lively space, telling the story of the city.
The boutique presents a full offering of Cartier’s iconic jewellery and watchmaking collections. Accessories including leather goods, fragrances and gifts are also made available. The boutique also provides a relaxing area with a bar feature that allows customers to lounge comfortably while exploring the offerings from the Maison.
Virginie Martignac, Cartier Global Travel Retail Director, commented: “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our presence in this vibrant travel hub. It marks an exciting journey of growth for us as we forge deep connections with travellers. With each new boutique, Cartier furthers its leadership as the unmissable jewellery retailer and marks another step in driving meaningful change in the travel ecosystem.”
“The opening of this boutique is a testament to Valiram’s longstanding partnership with Cartier and reinforces our shared commitment towards bringing the best of luxury experiences to the fashion and watch community. We look forward to providing travellers at Changi Airport with an unparalleled shopping experience and inviting them to immerse themselves in the Maison’s exceptional craftsmanship and timeless beauty, through an impressive line-up of watches, jewellery and accessories,” says Mukesh Valiram, Executive Director of Valiram.
