A zero solo supplement offer means couples and solos can sail through the Arctic’s famed Northwest Passage later this year for the same fare and save more than US$6700 each if they book the expedition voyage with Australian small ship cruise specialist, Cruise Traveller, by March 31, 2024.

The savings are part of a new, adventure-filled cruise and stay package released by Australian small ship cruise specialist, Cruise Traveller, and expedition cruise line, Adventure Canada.

Renowned for its dramatic icebergs, fjords, glaciers, polar bears and remote, indigenous settlements, the Northwest Passage in the Canadian high Arctic links the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and is only navigable by ships for a few months a year after the peak of summer. Many 19th century European explorers tried to traverse the passage as a possible trade route to Asia, often with journeys ending in disaster. Today, the Northwest Passage is accessible by ice-strengthened expedition ships – but the icy waters still retain their mystic charm.

Guests will travel onboard Adventure Canada’s 198-passenger vessel, the Ocean Endeavour, and enjoy many Zodiac shore visits and excursions which will take them close to wildlife and provide an immersive insight into the traditional Inuit culture—including a visit to Canada’s northernmost communities. During the journey, expedition staff from Adventure Canada will help spot polar bears, whales, seals and other wildlife while maintaining passenger safety at all times.

Cruise Traveller’s new 18-night ‘Into the Northwest Passage’ package begins in Toronto, Canada, during the northern summer on August 26, 2024, with a night’s stay in a hotel followed by a charter flight to Kangerlussuaq in Greenland for the start of the 16-night voyage back to Canada’s northern shores and the famous Northwest Passage.

Highlights of the journey include crossing the Arctic Circle, cruising through the icebergs at Greenland’s Ilulissat Icefjord, visiting the historic remnants of the Franklin Expedition in the Northwest Passage and searching for polar bears, walrus, muskox, seabirds, seals and whales. The thrilling traverse of the Northwest Passage ends in Kugluktuk in Arctic Canada where guests will fly to the town of Yellowknife for a final night’s stay before another flight next day to Vancouver where the package ends.

Including two nights’ hotel accommodation, shore and Zodiac adventures, two, connecting charter flights and an expedition parka to keep, the 18-night ‘Into the Northwest Passage’ package, beginning August 26, 2024, is available from US$17,395 per person, twin-share, in an Interior Cabin  – a 25 per cent saving of US$6705 each. The discounted fare and savings also apply to solo travellers with no solo supplement (subject to availability and in selected cabin categories). The fare in an Ocean View Cabin is from US$20,695 per person, twin-share, or for solo travellers (subject to availability) – a 25 per cent saving of US$5895 per person.

The savings and zero solo supplement offer are for bookings made with Cruise Traveller by March 31, 2024. Flights from Australia are additional. A reverse itinerary out of the Northwest Passage from Canada to Greenland, starting on September 11, 2024, is also available with the same fares and savings.
