Hyatt Hotels Corporation has unveiled its ambitious expansion plans across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME) in a remarkable development that signals a seismic shift in the hospitality landscape. This strategic move, characterized by a surge in lifestyle and all-inclusive hotel openings, marks a new chapter in the company’s growth trajectory.
With unprecedented deal signings, 2023 emerged as a record year for Hyatt, paving the way for a robust growth path in 2024 and beyond. The company’s dedication to its guests, customers, and owners has culminated in an extraordinary pipeline of 127,000 rooms globally, representing nearly 40% of Hyatt’s existing portfolio. This expansion is particularly notable in critical markets such as Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, and Greece.
At the heart of this expansion are two flagship projects in Spain under the astute ownership of Stoneweg. The AluaSoul Costa Adeje, an Inclusive Collection resort in Tenerife, and the Palace de Muro, a Destination by Hyatt property in Alcúdia, Mallorca, are set to redefine luxury hospitality. Slated to open by the end of 2024, these establishments are a testament to Hyatt’s burgeoning presence in the lifestyle brand segment.
Javier Águila, Group President EAME, Hyatt, expressed his enthusiasm for the scaled growth achieved in 2023. “Guided by our purpose of care, we are on the cusp of our most exciting chapter yet,” Águila stated. “Our commitment to becoming the preferred hospitality brand is stronger than ever.”
The AluaSoul Costa Adeje, poised to open in the last quarter of the year, is undergoing extensive renovations. This 226-room resort, nestled on the beaches of the Adeje coast in Tenerife, is designed for guests seeking a vibrant escape. Meanwhile, the Palace de Muro, opening in 2024, offers a serene retreat near the Albufera Natural Park in Mallorca. With 184 rooms, this resort promises a tailored luxury experience on the pristine Muro Beach.
Miguel Casas, Managing Director of Stoneweg Hospitality, highlighted the significance of these projects. “The upcoming openings of AluaSoul Costa Adeje and Palace de Muro reflect our dedication to growth and excellence in hotel experiences,” Casas remarked. “These are milestones that underscore Stoneweg’s commitment to providing unforgettable guest experiences.”
Hyatt’s strategy also encompasses the ever-popular all-inclusive segment. Javier Coll, Global Head of Hyatt Inclusive Collection Growth, emphasized this point. “The Inclusive Collection leads the all-inclusive space, meeting diverse needs and occasions,” Coll explained. “Our 2024 openings in Spain and Greece, as well as new markets like Portugal, demonstrate our intent to grow in regions most valued by our stakeholders.”
The expansion doesn’t stop there. Hyatt’s EAME pipeline boasts over 70 properties, spanning various brand collections. Timeless Collection properties, such as the Park Hyatt brand, are set for significant expansion in 2024, following the opening of Park Hyatt Marrakech in December 2023. The Boundless Collection, including the Thompson Hotels, is poised to make an impactful entry with properties in Rome, Seville, and Vienna. The Inclusive Collection also expands, with notable entries like the Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina, and the Zoëtry Halkidiki Resort & Spa.
This strategic growth heralds a new era for Hyatt as it innovates and leads in the hospitality industry. With its eyes firmly set on the future, Hyatt is expanding its footprint and redefining the essence of luxury travel and hospitality.
