At the event’s official opening ceremony today, guests of honor including Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government was welcomed by Melco senior executives Mr. Clarence Chung, Board Director, Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO, and Mr. Kevin Benning, Senior Vice President and Property General Manager of Studio City.

Mr. Clarence Chung, Board Director of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said, “We are thrilled to have the honor of inviting six world-class snooker masters to Macau in collaboration with Victoria Snooker Academy UK for this exciting event, with Studio City Event Center offering an unparalleled live viewing experience for snooker fans around the world. In alignment with the government’s objectives to develop the sporting industry and promote the coordinated development of ‘tourism + sports’ in Macau, we will continue to support large-scale, international sporting events to contribute to the city’s enhanced status as a diversified world tourism and leisure center.”

The highly anticipated three-day event has attracted the participation of world snooker masters including Luca Brecel, the champion of the 2023 World Snooker Championship and currently ranked second in the world; Mark Selby, currently ranked fifth and highly popular among fans; John Higgins, ranked ninth and known for his numerous century breaks; Allister Carter, the champion of the 2023 Snooker German Masters and making his first appearance in Macau; Barry Hawkins, the champion of the 2023 European Masters; and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, the runner-up of the 2023 Six-Red World Championship and a popular Asian player.
