Intrepid Travel, a world leader in responsible travel, achieved a record sales month globally in November and recorded its highest sales day in company history thanks to its annual Cyber Sale. Intrepid’s total sales was close to $25 million in Australia and New Zealand and the final day of the sale saw $4 million in sales alone.
Local passenger numbers grew by six per cent from the same period last year, as customers rushed to secure their holiday for 2024.
The top-selling destinations for Aussies and Kiwis included Japan, Peru, Morocco, Vietnam and Turkey. South East Asia saw a huge resurgence in demand, with Thailand up 36 per cent and Cambodia up 41 per cent in passenger numbers.
The figures revealed that more customers globally are avoiding peak season travel in favour of shoulder season departures. September, April, and May are set to be the most popular months to travel in 2024.
Travellers are also seeking comfort with Intrepid’s Comfort and Premium range ranking in the top three, with Original seeing an uptick in bookings.
Brett Mitchell, Managing Director for Intrepid Travel ANZ, says, “These figures show that people are continuing to prioritise travel and experiences over material possessions, despite the cost of living pressures and economic uncertainty. We saw Japanese adventures be a hit amongst travellers as the top selling destination, which resulted in Intrepid adding additional departures to meet this surge.”
As we approach 2024, Intrepid Travel remains committed to providing exceptional travel experiences that positively impact the planet and its people.
